Help with Sky+ HD

Hi all,
I have been looking to switch my broadband and have come to the conclusion that I would like to take a full package out from sky. I have an HD tv so see little point in getting Sky standard or Sky+ as the TV capabilities will essentially be going to waste. The problem is how many extra charges there are for taking out this package. I was told by the sky advisor that it will cost me £10 extra a month for an HD pack and also I will have to take the full sports pack (£18/month) in order to take advantage of the HD sports channels, whereas I only really wanted Sky Sports 1. When it all comes together he said I would be paying around £67/month for broadband, phone line rental and tv. This frankly seems too expensive although I did hear that there are various discount codes that friends and family of sky employees and can give large discounts. As I am fully ready to take out a sky package I would be eternally grateful if someone could PM me one of these codes.

Thanks in advance.

Is having them altogether the cheapest way? Have a look at Martin's article on phones and broadband on the main site..

Well yes it would be the cheapest as Sky are giving 6/months free broadband and free evening and weekend calls- it's mainly the TV that is causing the price to be so high.

It's a good deal at face value, although I think you need to look beyond six months and read in the Home Phones section the implications of Sky unbundling your phone line, both for your ability to use override codes and for switching away easily.

(The first thing to do is to look at the savings over your minimum rental period, 12 months.
You will be paying £192 for line rental, evening and weekend calls and broadband.)

I saw today that quidco have upped the cashback for Sky HD to £75. Sky also gave me a code for a free HD box. Although it states on quidco that I can't use offer codes in conjunction with cashback, has anyone tried this/ and has it worked as it would seem a pretty good deal to get the cashback, box and vouchers.

Can we safely assume that Sky LLU BB is available at your exchange?

Well there is a Sky broadband exchange fairly close to where I live (around 8-10 miles).

    But is that your exchange?

8/10 miles away it seems unlikely.

But is that the exchange that your telephone line is connected to?

Put your phone number in to SamKnows to find out.
