  • Hi all,

In reply to a couple of you i'm in Cyprus. My partner has just been posted here and i've taken a career break (no salary:eek:) to follow him. Hence the DMP which i was going to do but this gave me the kick up the backside to do it.

fingers crossed i'll get some work in the next 4 months things are pretty slack out here, but i'm being optomistic ( excuse spelling). i'll be working on the base and then i'll really start to make a dent in this ball and chain round my neck. At the moment its an 11 yr plan gulp, urgh feel sick but plan to half it at least.

for the insomniacs of our little gang. i did used to do nights and have perused the board many a night shift at 4 or 5 in the morn.

Have a fab weekend if can :j:j

Hi all, received in post today my letter from CCCS. Can anyone tell me if they need originals of payslips (how many months) benefit letters and CC statements or are copies okay. Also the included notification of DMP form which I have to send to creditors what month do I say my DMP will start I am right in assuming April. Shall I send my token payment with the notification form or separately. Sorry for sounding dim but you guys all seem to be really helpful to each other.

Also received in post my Coop card freaked out as it had visa debit all over it but calmed done once I realised it was nothing to worry about and wasnt a devil card

Anyway will start hunting out paperwork fingers crossed I find everything. hope you all have relaxing weekend.

  • Hi All

Ive got my CCCS paperwork sitting here and still debating whether to send it back or not. I need to. Im just so worried.

What if my creditors dont accept it and one of them petitions for me to be made bankrupt. In my job, bankrupcy is a sackable offence. Seriously. Your gone.

Added to which my debts total £36,000. I know it will take me a while to pay it back at £624 per month but thats fine. At least there would be a light at the end of the tunnel. Even if its a very long tunnel!!!!!

Its the "what if they dont accept it" that worries me?

Have everyones experiences been gennerally positive?

Someone kick me up the backside please.

Welcome to the club Cam. PDD is the person you want to do that. :D PDD along with teds, VicB etc are the sensible voices that empowered me. I'm just about to set out, so don't know what the responses are going to be. Luckily if they are not positve, unlike you it will only be a worry for me not a sackable offence.

"Positive thoughts, positive thoughts" to quote Abby. Not that I'm NCIS obssesed.

My TV died yesterday. Good/bad news. It had been playing up, so now means token payments WILL be sent this month and hopefully the new TV will see me through until the end of the debt. RE Token payments who do they get sent to address wise since most bills say don't send correspondence?

  • I just sent my token payments along to the payment address with the DMP notifiction letter and they all got cashed no problems.

Have a nice new TV so am happily waiting for the England game to start. I had dithered over buying a new one for a couple of years, so almost fate it going now in the week I'm sending token payments, thanks for the replies about where/how to send them. One reason for not buying before was not being able to decide on a 26" or 32". 26" in my room is afterall fine. Other reason was using money going to the US instead. Well the TV will be my entertainment for the next 4~ years so justifiable expense and it did mean there is even less to change to the new account. Hope you are all enjoying your "not opening your letters" weekend. This time next month I will no doubt be doing the same.

So PDD are you Jeremy or Bamber?

I so agree about them not getting money back if they don't take our offers, at least this way they get money, we don't feel too bad because we want to pay and we also take back control of our expenses. RE the TV:- Three months ago it would have gone on a card and I'd then spend more, this way it has already come out of my account. Do I feel better knowing that? Yes!!

  • :jaw guys, thank you so much, I encourage people every day in my job to make the best of themselves and their business, so its not so hard, but it is great to know that Ive helped some of you to make the decision. aw :o:o:o

OK Cam, what are your options, I looked at the DMP as a starter for 10, lets try and sort it out this way and if it doesn't work (God forbid) then we'll look at something more drastic. If you don't need to go drastic as a DMP. could you payoff the debt any other way? and still live some kind of life? I'm grateful for our DMP, so far we are living reasonably well, not flush like before but not beans on toast every night. I think to make a DMP work you have to be able to live a little or what's the point. It is also better for your creditors, they get their money (eventually:o) but they do get it and with any other option, they will never get it all back. We have 22 creditors (may be a record:o) and all but 2 (of the smallest ones) have accepted so far, the state owned banks will not cancel all of the interest but some have reduced it down to something nearly reasonable so our debt pile is shrinking and that is what we wanted. I keep saying that we are the banks customers and they are always saying they will help and sometimes you just have to remind them of that undertaking, strong and assertive cos you are fighting for yourself and your family and doing the best you can under the circumstances.
God I'm giving up now, I hope this helps Cam but the best people are on this board, particularly this fab thread, no one will be surprised at anything you post, someone else will have seen it, done it and bought the teeshirt (probably with a credit card) so let us know if there is anything else we can help with. Good luck and welcome to Nat's thread, are you a man, cos we could probably do with one as most of us a mental woman:rotfl::rotfl:
