You're very welcome my lovely, its what we're here for :)

It is scary, but in reality, they will probably moan and groan for a couple of months and then accept that you can't afford any more than you are giving them and they'll hush up and go away!

Thanks SO much guys, just the reassurance I needed :grouphug:

I have a day off work on Monday, so may bite the bullet (and if I'm feeling brave!) and call a couple, unless they write to me in the meantime!...

This thread really is my life saver x

Hi I have recently completed CCCS debt remedy as i have £25k debt on cc's and a loan. CCCS have suggested a DMP over 6 years I am struggling with minimum payments. I havent defaulted on any of them and are not in my overdraft with the bank. I havent click on the DMP button on the remedy yet as I feel so ashamed that I have got myself in this situation. I dont have anyone to talk to about it. I'm a single mum.

Hey Candy, welcome, you are in the same poisition as me and I feel the same as you, but I have finally admitted it. I didnt even realise until I sat down a couple of weeks ago and saw how much I actually owe 9 £38,000 of personal debt. I shocked myself and thought suicide or burying my head in the sand was the only answer; then I came to this forum and am slowly making efforts to sort this out.

I went onto CCCS and they said I can be debt free in 15 years with a DMP but i am still waiting for the paperwork so I havent done anything yet apart from come on here. So well done for making the first move, I am still finding it all very confusing but hte people on these forums are smashing and a real help.

BY the way it has been a week now since I filled in the debt remedy - shoud I not have received something by now, even if just an acknowledgement? I want to get things started as soon as possible. I want to have a look through the DMP paperwork then I can degfinitely decide if this is what I am going to do.

    Thanks x

That does seem like a long time to me - I got mine within a couple of days. Having said that - they are VERY busy at the moment so it could be just that, if you are worried - drop them a call (assuming you have the reference from the web) and ask if they have sent it or alternatively do it again! (I actually did mine twice and received the paperwork twice!)

  • Hi,

I would like to join this thread - fairly new to using this forums - or any forums!! but I have dipped in and out of this when I have needed some advice over the past year and it has been a real support so I thought sharing my story and queries might help some people too!

After agonising about going bankrupt and being pushed by family members to take the bankruptcy option cos they said it was easier - who wont let us forget now that we are in this mess cos we didnt take their advice?? -I decided that I would like to keep some control over our debts so i went for a DMP instead with a firm promise to myself that i would change my ways of spending and knuckle down to pay off the debt. Its not that we lived extravagently, just slightly beyond our means swapping credit cards and not being able to pay them off properly and we also took a personal loan for our mortgage deposit

I am six months in to a DMP with Payplan and am £30k in debt (joint with partner, but i am the one that does the finances) Having a bit of a crack up moment (as I seem to be doing more and more regularly now!!) cos I am starting to get calls from creditors again saying my agreement needs to be renewed. Some of them have accepted and have been great but some are really annoying - sending letters etc.

The credit card co are now presuring me to make a reduced payment of 1.8k on a 6k card before they refer the account on to debt recovery. I dont know what to do about this. Have zero cash to pay it but could use a credit card that I still have for dire emergencies - I suspect that this would be a bad thing to do but the chance to pay off at such a reducd payment is stressing me out.

Any one got any ideas - had any similar experiences?
