I am very inexperienced in these matters, but Payplan did tell me that you cannot have a bank account with ANY debt connected to it.
Not sure how they could find out you are on a DMP, but if Natwest did, they would be not best pleased as you have a debt with them.
I also believe if the CCCS found out they would terminate your DMP, so I would take Pure Dead Dopey's advice re. bank accounts.
Sorry if this is not the answer you are looking for, but I think it may be in your best interest in the long run.
I never want credit again (apart from my mortgage) and if I 'm honest having no credit cards/loans to fall back on is going to be very good for me.
LBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.
    Paddle No. 5.
    Debt at DMP start (May 1st '10) £54.9k, as of 1st Oct '11 £33.2k. 40% cleared.
    (3 F & Fs down, 5 to go!) :T

Thanks some more you wonderful lot :D

Losing sorry to reiterate what everyone else has said, but excluding one debt will put your whole DMP at risk of not being accepted. You need a new bank account with someone that you don't owe money to, so seeing as you owe Nat West the Royal Bank of Scotland wouldn't be a good move because they are one and the same and its not worth the risk. Please don't fiddle the figures on Debt Remedy - if a jobs worth doing, its worth doing well :) bigs hugs xx

I'm about half way through The Shadow of the Wind and OH has had to force me to put it down! What a compelling mystery! Thanks for the heads up on that one Vic!!

I've got a babysitter all sorted for an hour tomorrow lunchtime and will report back if I survive!! :rotfl:

Night all, need some beauty sleep xxx

OK well I thought it was a long shot - looks like I am gonna have to open a new account, in fact, I have an account with TSB that I opened a few years ago but Ive never used it - would this be OK? My creditors are:-

    Virgin
    Egg
    Natwest
    Halifax
    Tesco
    Capital ONe

Is TSB connected to any of these? This would be a better option as the account is already open. If I take money out of the Natwest overdraft and put it in this TSB account to "start me off" so to speak, will they still accept the terms of the DMP when I take money from the o/d then immediately stick the debt onto a DMP? Im really really worried and it feels like I am committing some major crime here.

Thanks for all your input, yo uare really helping me and I hope to come to a decision on what I am going to do for once and for all very soon then I may be able to eat and get some sleep of a night because at the moment I can do neither.

    THanks all you guys xxx

I opened my basic account with a zero balance Losing hun, so don't worry about paying in money to "start you off" when you open an account. TSB now come under the Lloyds banner and I'm afraid I don't know if Lloyds are connected to any of your creditors - someone suggested using Wikipedia to check links between institutions, might be worth a look? If not, the Coop account is a good one which I believe is active pretty quickly.

Glad to help sweetie - and if the not eating/sleeping carries on, please pop and see your doctor, just to check you're ok because at the end of the day you are what is important, not those barstewards - your boy needs a mum, you and him (and OH of course :D) have to come first.

Lots of love and hobnobs xxxx

  • Happy Pancake Day everyone!
I have now sent my forms and documents off to CCCS (last Friday) and sending my notificfations of DMP today / later this week (want to withdraw all pennies from Lloyds and get my new cash card before I do this and the block all my access). Have changed all my d'debits and now all excited about the future.

    what happens next?

    Thanks all

  • whoo eeh Ach you are off and running, just make sure all your DDs are transferred. Although I did everything right, a couple of my DDs didn't get it right and it had to be chased up. Good jon all this dealing with debt has made me super picky, its almost like a second job with the filing etc.

Losing Well done, I don't want to upset your plans but if you read through the threads, Lloyds would be the last bank that most people on here would dream of banking with under any circumstances, chaotic, unhelpful and apparently no facility to help its customers. I'm sure the co-op isn't connected and they are a least a bit ethical, a word which is foreign to Lloyds

  • aww thanks guys! Im so exicited and still will be making token payments next month - which will shock the hell out of most of them who until present, have had the payments in full. I just hope I dont get charged silly amounts on things whilst it is all settling down.
What should I do about my old Lloyds account? They normally charge me £25 a month account fee. If I leave (which I have) I will obv not pay this but with being £250 overdrawn I am worried they will still charge me and then have all the overdraft charges (excess) etc? Any suggestions?

    Thanks all
