Election

I was chatting to the caretaker of my Village Hall this morning and he told me the Hall has been provisionally booked for March 25th or May 20th by the 'powers that be'

    What?

The same 2 dates that have been suggested by the media?

Dunno - avoiding a wishy-washy budget and possible fallout from the financial markets could well be a consideration for March (and nobody knows what happens when/if QE goes on hold).

They can call an election in slightly less than a month - so anything's possible.

  • I think GB will want to avoid a budget - particularly after Mervyn King's comments which make it clear that the next one cannot be a giveaway one.

Also it's highly likely that Q1 will show negative growth due to the VAT increase and the snow.

BUT lets not underestimate GB as the indecisive, dithering and cowardly individual that he is. He has form for preparing for and spending lots of money on an election that never happened back in 2007.

So taking everything into account I wouldn't be surprised if he waits until the last possible moment i.e June to hold an election unless the gap between Labour and the tories narrows to 5 points or less in a number of opinion polls.

He will have to be dragged out of Downing Street. Afterwards I imagine he will be like Ken Livingstone constantly going on about "When I was in power I..."

    Can't wait.

The propaganda machine has been on full force for a month now.

That piece was another prime example of media bias coming out of the BBC.

I am not paying my TV licence anymore.

Its just a marketing subsidy for Labour.
