Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 20th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

N9eav - That must have been a horrible job, really grim. Hope you had a better day yesterday.
Bitsy - Hugs hon
Lowesy - Let us know how the scan goes hon
Hilstep - You poor thing, I hope you feel better after your fall. My MIL just collected a rescue tortoiseshell cat from the PDSA, and she is gorgeous.
Lamewolf - you are NOT old fat or ugly! Please don't blame yourself for this, as others have said, there is probably something else going on for him.
Redruby - Tris had his kidney transplant on the 3rd November as far as I remember, tho he had a bleed beginning of December, but yes, he can get to the car and back with help. He cannot drive or anything of course, and he was being driven to the hospital to see his oncologist to discuss more treatment ironically enough.
PurpleIvy - Hope the SAD lamp works
Nic1 - I am guessing from your lack of posting yesterday that they did your op on Monday so hope you are feeling better today.
Gemma - I think writing a letter like that will really be appreciated by her,
Haribo - Thank you so much for your words, I totally agree, he has more strength and determination to survive than anyone I know, which is why him being so depressed the last month or so has been hard to see. But I know he will get through this too.
SunnyGirl - Glad to hear it all went well sweetie.
Csarina - My mother once said that she never lent anything out that she wasn't prepared to lose, just in case! But she was quite strong at saying no to people and I find that really hard.
thankyou.gif so much to everyone who mentioned Tris and Michelle. You are all very kind. I know I have been saying for a while that physically Tris was up and down but basically on the mend, but emotionally he has been very depressed and it has been quite debilitating for him. Anyway, the news right now is concussion and broken bones but as yet, no internal problems which is good. Michelle is not doing so well though, and could use your prayers and thoughts please. They were on the way to the hospital for his appt apparently.
Anyway, I made an enormous fish pie last night with everything we had in the house.. used up all the fish and bulked it out with peas, (HG) onions, peppers (HG frozen) and chopped green beans, plus the cheese sauce. Made enough for three nights meals plus another whole pie in the freezer that just needs the mash putting on it. Have to say it was delicious.
We are doing Ok on our store cupboard challenge and our grocery challenge this month - just goes to show what you can do when you have to. We are focussing hard on paying back the loan that my OHs parents gave us towards the car as fast as we can, so any money saved is extra for them!
I hope today is the best it can be for everyone and that anyone feeling poorly gets better soon. With love, light and HShuggies.gif to all.

    Morning all,

I've just had my afternoon cuppa. Had a busy day and it's gone super quick. We are heading off the island on the 6pm ferry. We'll probably get out to the airport around 7.30pm & fly out at 11.30pm. We're leaving a bit early as DD is taking us out there and has to return here. The ferry stops working at 11pm during the week. Hopefully if the traffic is good she'll get the 9pm ferry back, if not, she has to wait another hour.

We're having early tea before we go. I won't get much chance to come on here for the next 5 weeks but for those who are FB friends I"ll update on there more regularly.

Nic I hope you are having a speedy recovery.
Lamewolf Nobody should make you feel like that. <hugs>

Be good, if not, be careful. :D Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Morning.... Tired, but earning money, so happy. It seems I am earning it too rather than sliding down a hill on a shield  Just wish we had some snow and a hill though....
It will be a grim few days, but I shall put my work head on when I get there and leave it behind when I leave....

Thanks to everyone for their support:beer:

Cold and wet here floods everywhere yesterday, I guess some of you are seeing our rain as snow?

OH made a great slow casserole brisket last night, really tasty, rather nice to come home to after Tesco sandwiches for a few days. 10/10. Well time to get moving again.... Cheers folks

    Morning peeps

cold here this morning but no snow :j

I had an early night last night last night as i was bushed so i feel a lot better this morning. Usual bits and pieces sorted out before i left the house but the washing machine hadn`t finished so i shall hang the clothes up when i get home tonight.

Sausage and onion pasta for tea tonight YUM! i love this, nice and easy and a good cheap meal, i always make it with lincolnshire sausages too so its super tasty!

Off to the doctors later to get my other ear sorted out, i`m looking forward to being able to hear with both ears, this last week has been really unbalanced but so much better than the week before.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon trying to sort out my kitchen order, i managed to get solid ash kitchen cabinet doors for a knock down price in the sale but all the units that i need were not available so i kept waiting to order and have sent several emails to the shop and kept getting fob off replies. Yesterday i managed to speak to someone on the phone and she was great but unfortunately the matching cabinets are discontinued

I`m now going to have to print off all the correspondence and take it down to a shop to see if there is anything else that will fit/match before i decide to go ahead with the other order. I wish that they had told me this last year when i placed the original order and enquiry about the cabinets. I`ve had several emails but none of them were actually any help.

Sunny Girl - Glad that everything went well yesterday ((((HUGS))))

Hillstep - Aw, a cat will be a great companion.

    NicLou - Hope you`re ok

Lamewolf - I whole heartedly agree with everyone else here`s opinion on the subject (((HUGS))))

Right must dash, have a great day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning all.

Very cold here, this morning, but no snow.

Didn't get much sleep last night and gave up trying, around 5 :(

I fell on Monday, which knocked me about a bit, so didn't feel to great yesterday.

Not in so much pain now, but very tired. I need putting in a bag and shaking :D

The girls are back to Japanese this morning, which will please them. Well, apart from the getting up early :D

The house was cleaned yesterday, so not much to do there, other than getting all the sheets dry.

I'm going to sort some bacon for when I wake the girls up and want to make a pack lunch, rather than buying whilst we're out.. I will definitely be taking a flask of hot water for drinks too, as it does feel very cold out.

Casserole in the SC for tonight. I bought some herby roast potatoes from M&S - not very OS, but they look  so will have those with it. DD1 can have rice, as she doesn't do potatoes

Hope you all have a good day.

I've just made another cuppa, which I will enjoy in peace, before waking DDs :)

Off to work soon, I'm expecting it to be stressful, we have a big event coming up on Friday, it will take 2 to 3 days to produce the work needed. No of course I haven't been given the proofs to work from & although I filled in an order form for the paper last week, the order hasn't been placed yet, it's still only half way up the chain of command! All we need is for it to snow, lol.
    Hugs to PP
Sunnyday, glad your ears are getting sorted, it's horrible not being able to hear.
MSD, will keep you, Tris & Michelle in my thoughts.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning!

Hillstep A cat will be great company. Ours get up from where they've been sleeping to say hello when we come in!

Pipkin71 Hope that you recover from your fall and sleep better tonight.

N9eav Horrible job sometimes I'm sure. I'm very thankful to our Police force for the jobs you all do :T Glad that you can leave it behind when youo leave for the day it must be a sanity saver. A friend of ours has been with GMP Traffic for years and he has the same ability thankfully.

NicLou Speedy recovery hugs for you xx

Up and about early with DS3 today we're just waiting for the porridge to cool down a bit. All of us slept like logs last night it will have done us good.

Not many plans today apart from going food shopping this morning. I also need to do the Flylady lists for yesterday & today and hoover round downstairs. Susie Labrador brought half a tree home with her last night after her walk :rotfl: and chewed half of it in the kitchen before we managed to 'hide' it in the garden!

No idea what lunch is probably a sandwich and some fruit. Dinner is sausage pasta with lots of chopped peppers, onions & courgettes (frozen from a friends glut in the summer) hidden in a amongst it ;)

Have a good day all & hugs to anyone who needs one xxx

    Morning all,

    Aussie safe flight xx

Nic, I Hope the op went ahead for you, and that you are not too uncomfortable xx

Off to work today, so the cleaning will cease for a while :D, will carry on at the weekend.

Im going to put some pork chops in the sc in a while, they are huge ones, I will do the veg etc when I get home tonight.

We desperatly need to get the lock fixed on the front door, you cannot lock it from the inside, and although no one can get in from outside, the heat is pouring out of the door , so OH will try and do that this weekend.

I shall have some porridge for breakfast, with fruit, and I will go and make a sandwich for lunch in a while.

Hope you all have good days xx

    Morning everyone.
Thank you all so much for putting up with me last couple of days. Had slightly better night last night - they both woke once but they weren't up for hours on end for a change :T I shan't assume the end is in sight but since I went to bed at 9pm last night I do feel like I had better night's sleep so consequently am in a better frame of mind this morning. As Molly says in her signature - keep calm and carry on. I think the mantra "this is a phase, it will pass" should be repeated often :rotfl: I might start to believe it then ;)

Spent a small fortune in George for DD (and a little bit on me :o). Her sleepsuits are just too small (she's a big girl for her age) so have bought her a load of PJ's. Also got her some more clothes - I don't think I timed her birth in July right - it seems as though she outgrows all her stuff for one season halfway through so I have to buy two lots of wintery stuff etc. My local charity shops aren't very well stocked for kids clothes and buying off ebay isn't that cheap when you factor in postage. So Primark and supermarkets it has to be. Bought myself some fleecy PJ's - very comfy and warm :)

DS wanted to get out on his bike yesterday which we never did. I will try and take him out this morning - no rain or sleet at the moment. Must try and catch up with the cleaning I've not done - did none yesterday :o Fancy doing some baking so might have a go at Jamie Oliver's brownies if I get chance.
No idea what's for tea - must get back into meal planning. Even H asked me to go back to it :o so I think he's missing me being organised :rotfl:

lowesy - hope scan went OK yesterday

Lamewolf - can only agree to what everyone else said - hugs to you xx

Zippy - good luck with the re-decorating.

Diva - sending positive vibes to Tris and Michelle xx

Sunnygirl - glad the send off went well for you MIL xx

pipkin - hope you get some rest sometime today or at least have a better nights sleep tonight xx

Aussie - have a good flight! Hope you've got your thermals packed, it's going to be a shock coming back to this cold weather :rotfl:

Right I need another coffee. Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning All

Didn't catch up on the thread yesterday so hope everyone is ok, (((hugs))) if you need/want one. Thinking of Tris & Michelle Diva. Hope you feel better soon Sunny & Hester & Pipkin, OH had a fall yesterday & took a chunk of his leg out

Managed to get a hair appointment yesterday but it took longer than I thought so wasn't as productive as I would have liked - will have to make up for it today.

Gonna get a chicken out of the freezer and hope it defrosts in time for dinner, have quite a lot of paperwork to do and a few errands to run. One being taking the wossiest staff dog in the world to the vet for his booster injection.

No snow here so that is :jquite cold though with a biting wind.

Anyway best get on - Safe journey Aussie.x

    Morning All

Half way to the weekend nearly :T I've just but the steak in the slow cooker with some celery, onions and gravy for tonights dinner, I'll do mash when I get in tonight - looking forward to it already! Not sure what to take for lunch - we don't have a microwave at our new offices so last nights left over chilli is no good! I do have the veg to make coleslaw so I'm debating that and some bread & butter.

Need to go and wiggle money around the bank accounts - current account is looking a bit scary...roll on payday at least its only next week now and I should have a bit on MS money coming in tomorrow which will put us over.

DH painted the kitchen while I was at work yesterday and it looks soooo much brighter! We need to pick up a new blinds, light shades and some baskets and then when finances permit a little two seater sofa.

We're going to the cineam tonight (ms job ;)) and I picked last time so I think DH want to see the new sherlock holmes film - anyone seen it yet?

Right better get a move on

    Have a good day
