Yes I agree -into the washing machine. I have washed loads of toys that say sponge wash etc. I have to wash toys regularly as strong family of asthma. Always come out as good as they went in!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I agree- I shove them into a pillowcase or laundry net, depending on qualtity, they always come out lovely and fresh.

I admit to putting manky soft toys in the washing machine, on a gentle cycle. They've always come up fine.

Do please ensure that you "bag" any stuffed toy before putting it in the washing machine. I once worked for Servis and was called to a house where the favourite toy had split at the seams and all the sponge stuffing bits had come out.

I had to completely strip all the innards of the machine, take the inner tub from the outer tub, the outlet pipework and the pump... and the whole job finished up taking me about two hours. (Longest it took me to fix a normal type (big) problem was 45 minutes.

So without insurance this could be a very expensive job!!

The teddy bear was clean though - just a bit flat :)

  • My cunning friend managed to buy a 'spare' of her boys favourite 'Monkey'. One goes out and about and to nursery etc and the other stays at home. So one can go through the wash while the other is available for cuddles and if one is lost then there is a back-up!
