its apparently a very labour intensive job, the only way to get at it is to remove the whole dashboard.
thats your worst case scenario.
You know what, that rings a bell. The heating has always been a bit iffy, and last winter it was in the garage because I hadn't put coolant in and got the big dreaded STOP light - the garage said exactly that about maybe needing to take off the dashboard, but he managed to get round it somehow. Ho hum, sounds like it's the big job this time. Does it HAVE to be done? If the only side effect is being cold, we can cope for now, but if it's causing more problems we'll have to bite the bullet.

When I bought my car (ten year old Micra) it was only blowing cold air. All it needed was a new pollen filter and it was nice and toasty again.0

why did the pollen filter stop the engine coolant heating up and circulating round the heater matrix?
im guessing if your pollen filter stopped hot air coming out of the vents it would have stopped the cold air aswell?...work permit granted!0 -
Sorry, I was very tired when I wrote that and my brain had shut down for the night! You're right, it wasn't blowing cold air, it was blowing almost no air at all.0
