I would just like to say that the PITA comment was tongue in cheek. ;)

I will ensure a letter gets forwarded in the right direction. It's only fair.

    Thank you all again.

ah go away, i've been in hospital more times than i care to remember and have rarely, if ever, received BAD health care.

the OP is clearly happy with the service they received and is happy that their father in law is recovering from what was feared to be a heart attack and felt it necessary to praise the NHS staff who helped him and his family.

well brettcat or whatever your name is - I am so happy you recieved good health care .....long may it continue.
I wasnt being nasty - but the circumstances the OP describe, I would say should be standard health care - not a reason to single out GOOD health care. or even health care above and beyond call of duty.
its the fact they felt the NEED to post it on here i find sad.

no matter what job you do whether it health care or not - it is nice to get someone who does say thankyou. It can do a helluva lot for morale. With the amount of abuse that NHS staff get - especially front line staff this does help.

This is a lovely thread, and yes the NHS gets a lot of bad press, but without the care and help in the QMC in notts, my daughter would be possibly now wheelchair bound due to scoliosis.

They were really lovely and very very careing. Even after the op, nurses from threatre popped onto ward on their way home to check her progress.

So i too would like to thanks all the NHS staff

Glad to hear a nice story about the QMC, I did my nurse training there. x

This is standard health care. This is what most hospitals do on a day to day basis, it is just never front page news. Good news stories dont sell newspapers.

If you have never experienced it then it may be that you do feel it outstanding at a time of crisis. I am grateful that Lee posted this. After all, the forum is for Praise, as well as for bad stories. The NHS is getting a kicking at the moment but there are hundreds of staff in this organisation who do a fantastic job, and not just the clinical staff. They all go out of their way to ensure that, as far as possible, the patient gets a good experience. Its what they do the job for.

It is just shame that human nature dictates that people tell more horror stories than nice ones and that narrow minded people, such as yourself Tandraig, have to make comments such as the one above.

you are not getting what I am saying - good healthcare shouldnt be noteworthy or posted on here! only exceptional health care. and to me - that wasnt exceptional. shouldnt that be standard?
I have posted where I think people have excelled.
but when it comes to local hospitals - one is particularly bad and its where my sis in law is currently being treated. (or badly treated in my and families opinion). so scuse me if i think - I am glad this guy had the right treatment - but shouldnt he have had it anyway? why are we expected to be grateful for treatment which wouldnt be tolerated in other countries? because we are TOLD the nhs is best in world?
I think the NHS is better than american system - but we could learn from other countries.
