I know the NHS gets a lot stick from everyone.. From patients, from relatives, from their managers and the government.
Today (well, yesterday now) my girlfriend's dad started suffering chest pains. She wasn't there when it happened, but another family member called an ambulance. It was worrying as he'd had a heart attack already a few years ago. The ambulance arrived very quickly, and they took him to hospital where he has been kept in overnight. Everyone was brilliant from start to finish and he has received amazing care. So far he is doing well, and we hope for a prompt recovery.
So for every one who complains, I am certain there are hundreds, if not thousands of people who think what you do is amazing.
To all of you on the NHS front line, midfield, line back or pain in the !!!! middle management
THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE.

Hey Lee - thanks for a lovely post and its great that you took time to do so during what must be a stressful time for you and your GF. I sincerely hope that your GF's dad is doing well and on the mend.
Its stories like these that are always in newspaper small print, they never give front page headlines to this positivity.
Thanks again for your kind post. Its nice to know that someone appreciates the service!

when i went into hospital for a 50 min routine day surgery case - i had complications and ended up in surgery for 7 hours - my suegeon had to cancel his afternoon private list at the nufield to save my life ... i may have complaints about the nhs - but they were there for me when i needed it!¬!!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Just an update for those of you with good wishes: He is out now with medication. Exact diagnosis unknown to me, but "discharged with pills" is better than "in the back of the ambulance on the way to hospital" !Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

The NHS are the best thing is this country. Every so often we all complain about them but if anything happens they are there for us. I have been off work for the past six months and the operations and physio etc that I have had has been wonderful. I couldn't praise them enough. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550
