I also have a dump at work but only because it happens to be that time of day iyswim
.
I'll charge my phone up at work too but mostly because when I'm flying out of my front door in my usual hurry and realise my phone won't last the whole day, I'll grab teh charger on the way out too.
I work in a leisure centre as a caretaker/security/general slave and I let the cleaners in at the crack of dawn. When they're doing the public areas I check the changing rooms and you would not believe the amount of shampoo bottles and shower gel that gets left behind - I never need to buy any for myself. Also quite a few £1 coins for the lockers
.
Some of the lost property is valuable so that goes to a special cupboard in case they come back for it but some of the lost property is just :eek:0 -
Most of the ones I do have already been mentioned.
My dad gets embarrassed when I go for a meal with him and take sachets of tartar sauce home with me (but I don't use any sauces with my meal, so it's only like a doggy bag. Kind of).
I always take all the tea/coffee/soap from hotels and have even taken toilet roll once.
OH and I have been known to walk out of asda without buying anything when we've been late at night and nothing's been reduced.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Just found this thread, what a laugh. Can't say I've done everything in here but not far off!!
My friends call my home Bleak House cos it's always so cold to them as I won't turn the heating up (this winter will be even worse - the PRICE OF OIL!!).
For years I've been regarded as all who know me as tight (not mean, just careful.....) but now it's quite trendy! Anybody need brown paper bags or elastic bands? Drawer-fulls.
My brother was horrified by my broccoli-stalk-&-cauliflower-leaf soup but had to admit it tasted good.
I was given a bottle of white wine which was VILE. My OH only drinks red but when I said I was going to chuck it (not even worth freezing for cooking & I hadn't paid for it) he insisted I leave it in fridge & he forced down a glass instead of his G&T for the next 4 days.
And lastly, the shirt I am wearing today is from Gap......purchased in 1988 & someone just said how nice it is. Most satisfying.0 -
Got to say I don't agree with the fare dodgers. I have a season ticket and it annoys me that part of the cost goes to subsidising fare dodgers.
I wouldn't do anything fraudulent or anything that involves stealing, but I agree with a lot of the others.
I see the bin raiders every evening outside the 'Eat' near my office. Got to say I'd have to be in a pretty bad way before my pride allowed me to do that. Still, it's not stealing so fair enough if you want to do that, nothing wrong with the food. The supermarkets should just reduce everything that's going to go off to 1p for the last half hour. Not only do they still get something for it, they don't have to pay to dispose of it. Far less wasteful too.
I also go for a dump (as other posters have put it!) at work, but it's more about liking the idea of being paid to **** rather than saving toilet paper!
I always get the first round in at the pub. Seems generous, doesn't it? Well actually, it's normally with a fair few people and it'll almost never get back round to me. So I'm getting a round in when there are the least number of people there!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

When you take goods and services from other people or organisations without their consent it's theft. I'd say taking teabags from hotels or sauces is expected, so doesn't count.
Fare dodging is theft. Changing price stickers is fraud.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

At my last job I was so glad that they called me back in to do some extra work as it meant I was able to use the photocopier, take home reams of paper, order stuff out of the stationery catalogue to help me with my college course!! I saved a fortune. It would only be a jobs-worth that would dob you in.
One of my ex collegues was dragged over the coals when he grabbed some food from a trolley sat in the corridor, the buffet trolley was for a meeting that had finished and the leftovers would be thown away, the company still classed it as "Corporate Theft" (ther words not mine), he got a warning for it."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Well that is theft, but stupid in this case IMO. In my office the food gets stuck on a table after meetings with a "help yourselves" sign. Doesn't last long! When they set up the meeting rooms, they lock it before the participants arrive to stop opportunists helping themselves before the meeting! I've sat through several lunchtime meetings where I wasn't really required just for the free food. Especially where high-up bods are involved, you know the foods going to be good. I suppose that is pretty tight!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Speaking of perks of the job......
I do the miscellaneous shopping for our little office, i.e toilet rolls, washing up liquid tea bags etc... so when i go shopping for work, if i pick up say, the BOGOF washing up liquid, i leave the free one in the back of my car, the company doesn't lose out as it's paying for what it gets, and i get the freebie...
plus when i order stationery goods online for work, i go via my Quidco account for the cashback....
sometimes there are nice freebies with stationery, every now and then i share them, if it's something i won't use but it makes me look altruistic...
There was a free £10 voucher when signing up for some stationer or other, and when it came i showed the boss and said what should i do with this... he said och just keep it.... so i took it happily....
and yes stationery and stuff, i've taken that but not masses, and i put it in with my study course which work are aware of, so i don't think they would mind...... altho i can see how technically it is theft, oooer... fine line isn't it?!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0
