Took my mum shopping this evening to Tesco. Saw a really nice pair of jogging trousers at £10 that would be ideal for work, mum said to try them on so I did and they fitted perfectly. Took them to the checkout with all the other things we were buying the girl was that busy chatting to mum when she took the security tag off she didn't scan them through! Neither mum or I said anything so I got a free pair of trousers. Bargin!!

OMG I've roared with laughter at some of the stuff on here....loved the 2p chq in the collection....brilliant! Great ideas too - thanks!
I used to stock up on cans of coke etc from work as they were heavily subsidised (only 2p) so I always had plenty at home.
I've been known to pour some cheap vodka into an empty bottle of Absolut to take to a party.....works with wine too......:o
As kids my Mum re-used the same wrapping paper over and over for about ten years (we were always ordered to unwrap our presents carefully), until one year my brother bought my Mum a roll of new paper as a present. Her face!:D She still does it today though.0 -

I apply for all the freebies I can on MSE, even ones that I'm never going to use, as they often come in handy jiffy bags for posting out eBay sales!
I also used to send all my ebay stuff from work, which is bad because I sent ALOT of stuff. I was underpaid and overworked anyway, so I'm not toooo bothered.0 -

The idea of boiling frankfurters in a hotel kettle is disgusting, I hope no Kosher Jews or vegetarians stay in the hotel after you. If you feel the need to do this put a kettle in your luggage.
I put a 2p cheque in a whip round for someone leaving work the other month, I only did it so he'd know it was me, he was an absolute knobhead. Most people just boycotted it, he got around £7 in total, but I did that just to annoy him. It came up on my online banking the next week... he'd paid the cheque into the bank.
:rotfl:
This 2p cheque story is complete genius ... particularly because it was preceded by a thorough fingerwagging for everyone else0 -
i do that!!!**purpleprincess** wrote:I don't know really, I know that I am now always trying to get the most out of my money. One thing I always do is buy some garlic baguettes and then chop it up into portions of 2 and then freeze it. Then when we want garlic bread I just take out one portion and cook that instead of a whole baguette and it lasts ages! Especially the Tesco Value 2 x baguettes for 89p! My friend did look at me quite bizarrely when she came round for dinner last week and I got out individual portions of garlic bread!!!!

Don't you think I wash the kettle after I use it? I'm a money saver, I'm not inconsiderate!
Besides, after speaking with some colleagues and friends I think that a used kettle is the least of your worries when checking into a hotel room......:rotfl:0
