I always feel tight when I budget my mum for the month - but it's for the best. We can now clear her CC early 2007 :T
So I know it's for the best
Next person to attack father...
I always feel tight if I have to skip a night out with my friends but I know I always end up spending far too much and usually get stuck with the taxi fare because no-one else remembers to keep any money back

When we go on holidays we always pick up a bottle of whisky from the duty free so that we can enjoy sharing a drink without raiding the mini-bar or the hotel bar bill.
.. and we always bring it back with us when returning homeMFW on your mark0 -

Same for me too! I do aerobics twice a week and each time I reuse the same bottle and have lovely, cool fresh water!
And the same for the wrapping paper! Especially at Christmas and also for children's presents so they can enjoy ripping the paper off and I don't mind as the paper hasn't cost me anything! Last Christmas I encouraged DHs family to be careful when opening their presents and my FIL kept calling me tight-fisted! I didn't care as I knew I wouldn't have to buy any new paper for this Christmas in the January sales!
I do also reuse silver foil where possible. If not burnt or too dirty I give it a wash and let it dry and then use it again when needed! I think I got this from my Mum!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

Took my grandma a present in a gift bag then 'spirited' it away once she had got her pressie ready for another day.
The coke bottles is a great one to do. Just get a 2 litre bottle from tesco and refill your branded 500ml coca cola bottle each day!! Better than spending £1 a time in the machine like all the other mugs

I used to work for a computer firm and would take the stationary.
But so as not to be caught stealing, I would seal it all up in a large Jiffy bag, frank it and leave it in the post sack to post it home.
I never left the building with it and I could get away with "someone else did it" if anyone ever found it.
I did this for some months. And sold the stuff at Car boot sales. Everything from post-its to complete boxes of 1000 envelopes, glue sticks to 4-hole punches.
Very Very naughty. Bad girl.0 -
And I cannot condone this action. What I did was stealing. (in hindsight!)
I do not recommend it to other law-abiding Money Savers.0 -

Personally I think that is pure genius. I am giggling away to myself here!
This whole thread has made be giggle. My surname is White and my nickname at work is Tight because of my erm "prudent" ways :rotfl:
1) If staying in a hotel I take all the bathroom products (soap, shampoo, shower cap, loo roll, even got a rubber duck in one), the tea/coffee, biscuits (usually phone reception and ask for more he he), and jam and pastries at breakfast.
2) If in a restaurant and can't finish my dinner then will ask the waiter/waitress to pop it in a plastic tub and I will have it for my dinner the next day.
3) Will browse Amazon or book shops for new books I fancy, make a list of them and then order them from the library.
4) Take out magazine subs (those 3 for a £1 jobs) with a free gift and use the gift for a Christmas/birthday pressie.
5) Bought everyone in the house a fleecy blanket so if cold can wrap up and save putting the heating on.
6) Back to Christmas/birthday pressies - will never buy anything full price. Thank god for the internet - there is always somewhere that has a discount!
7) Have two bottles of washing up liquid on the go at the same time. A cheapy one for cleanish dishes i.e. sandwich plates, cups, etc and then a more aggresive one for dirty dinner plates and pots.

I dont know if its the tightest thing I've ever done but last year I booked to go to the big staff celebration at Christmas. It was being held at an exclusive club and the deposit was £10. I think the whole thing was £20. Anyway, as the date got closer, one of the teachers had missed the booking date and really wanted to go and the thought of getting my 10 quid back and not having to pay another 10 was so tempting that I sold my ticket to him. I had to listen to what a great night I had missed and how good the food was for months afterwards! The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
