I can't remember which number I had calls from but it was the company pretending they were from T-Mobile trying to sell me a phone contract
I was getting 3-4 calls every day at the same time in the morning because of their auto-dialler
The calls seemed to stop after I answered it but stayed silent on the line. Didn't speak to the operator, just let them speak...it's possible it could be something where when the line answers the auto-dialler puts them through, but if the line is quiet to the agent they may think the line is dead or a VM and mark it as inactive... just a theory.
I'm also registered with TPS so it helps a lot.Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

If they're calling from outside the UK, then TPS doesn't cover it.
Most of these types of calls are done over the internet these days. They use an automated dialing system that is set to dial 4, 5, 6 or whatever times, then hangs up. It's to do with making as many calls as possible. Of course they may be making as many calls as possible, but they're also peeing off those people who just get to the phone as it hangs up.more dollar$ than sense0 -

Sorry you are incorrect as I have just had that conversation with a senior caseworker at the Information Commissioner's Office.
If the organisations to which the phone number data is being resold for subsequent marketing calls to TPS registered homes are in the UK then they can be held accountable for the activities of the organisation that has been carrying out this initial cold call work on their behalf. It is only if the entire service or physical good behind the attempt to gather the data from the phone call is not UK based that the TPS and the ICO do nothing under the PECR.
Therefore it is worth logging a complaint with both the TPS and the ICO against the Consumer Research Centre/Lifestyle Research Centre.0 -

Always learn summat new everyday. I didn't know that myself
TPS only helps against marketing calls, but I find numbers like this usually call my mobile. So I normally answer it then ignore them. They get !!!!ed off and eventually go awayOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Get yourself an 09*** number then when they call, tell them the bill payer is on this number, chat to them for ages raking £1 at a time .... even better still fill in lots of surveys posting the 09*** number and retireFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0

lol, their phone system probably doesnt even allow 090 numbers, so all in all, the perfect way to keep telemarketers and sales people at bay0
