There must be some strong areas out there as the asking prices are still dropping here according to Rightmove!
I had a look last week and the drops in the last 2 months have been from 5k right up to 25k with only two increases in asking price (of a max of 5k I think it was, I did post at the time) out of the entire stock of property for sale listed on Rightmove for the town and it's outlying villages. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

it isn't about strong areas - it's just your area and the west midlands that are not doing well. There must be some strong areas out there as the asking prices are still dropping here according to Rightmove
everywhere else in England and Wales seems to be increasing.

and it's only Asking Prices, not selling prices...0 -
Oh yes, I know it is only asking prices...
And ouch, just looked at your link Chucky and we are the worst performing area! Knew we were bad but THAT bad...blimey.
My point though regarding some strong areas is correct, 3 very strong areas, a couple of sort of ok and then some poor areas. We made it! that wasn't directed at youOh yes, I know it is only asking prices...
it was defending myself against the usual lot who would remind me of it and that it is a worthless figure. i tend to agree.
that's 3 out of 10 areas. they wouldn't really have an impact on the overall numbers. My point though regarding some strong areas is correct, 3 very strong areas, a couple of sort of ok and then some poor areas.
8 out of 10 of the areas are YoY positive. it's the underlying trend that looks to be continuing so the poor areas aren't doing bad at all.0 -
I had a closer look at that link, my area is the only one showing a year on year and a month on month downward trend..pretty much what I have been saying on here and seeing on Rightmove to be honest.
All the other areas are showing a positive on at least one of their figures. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. And when you dig into the numbers a little deeper, it gets better and better.....
Prices up 1.2% in just the first 7 days of the year.....House prices jumped by 1.2% during the first week of January as confident new sellers hiked their asking prices, research has shown.
The steep rise in asking prices during the early days of 2010 helped the average cost of a home on the market in England and Wales increase by 0.4% during the five weeks to January 9 to £222,261.
Property website Rightmove said the housing market had got off to a "buoyant start" this year, as record numbers of people logged on to its website to view property, with volumes up 26% compared with the same period of 2009.
It also estimates that the stock of homes for sale is currently at its lowest level this century, suggesting that the mismatch between supply and demand will continue to push up prices in the short term.
The latest increase, which followed two months during which the cost of property had fallen, left the average asking price 4.1% higher than at the beginning of January 2009.
Miles Shipside, commercial director of Rightmove, said: "This rise in asking prices is an early indicator that new sellers in 2010 have the confidence to try for a higher price, as the index was lined up for a fall until the turn of the year.
"We were expecting a drop of about 1% as the majority of this month's index falls in December, but the optimism of those early January sellers flipped it around."
The group said the factors that led to the unexpected buoyancy in the housing market during 2009 were continuing.
The average estate agency branch now has just 63 properties on its books, the lowest level since January 2008.
But the group said the overall number of homes for sale was likely to be far lower than two years ago, as many estate agency branches had closed during the period.
Supply woefully failing to keep up with demand. Prices have to rise. It's that simple.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

and if we didn't take Jan's drops you would be 5.8% up YoY and it would be the best performing region at 5.8% in the last year so the trend was upwards.I had a closer look at that link, my area is the only one showing a year on year and a month on month downward trend..pretty much what I have been saying on here and seeing on Rightmove to be honest.
we could go on for days
