I am also aware both would be excellent marketing opportunities. The one one in March, given they're all old ladies who have lived in the area for years, may also give rise to another book born from getting them to talk about their memories of the area :D Funnily enough, that's the one I'm more nervous about. I don't know them, whereas the one in June will have an audience a lot of whom I've known for years and I'll be v. comfortable.
If you interview anyone for a book make sure you record it cos you'll never remember after. Even if you take notes, hearing their voice will make it come alive more when you are writing.

Boddy I hope your Mum gets a bit better soon

Hex, how wonderful! I would love to research who lived in my parents Victorian road, it’s got some interesting stories, I bet!

    Hugs 1 Step

Lil_me I hope your Dad is better soon – I think a patient’s union is a great idea, but they wouldn’t be able to go on strike would they!

I am so unbelievably tired. I don't think I'm going to be able to go out tomrrow as planned after all - not told DH yet, will see how I feel in the morning. Mum has just text to say they are going away next weekend and we can stay there which will be brilliant as they are really close to the Assembly Hall. That will make things much easier! :)

Oooh, all the smileys have changed. How odd.

Thanks Rosep - that's what I intend to do - record at some point.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm off to bed now in the hopes that I'll feel more alert tomorrow.

    Evening all

I was so pleased when the nice technician at work brought me a replacement laptop (with my old harddrive in), but now it won't connect to my wireless broadband and I'm still borrowing DS1's, who is fortunately away until tomorrow.

I went back to work on Thursday, but my stomach still doesn't feel right. No idea what the problem is. Flying wise I've more or less kept on top of S&S in the kitchen. I'd arranged for our gas fire to be serviced today, so I also did some tidying up in the LR. Looks a bit better. We still can't use the fire, though. The engineer needs to come back when I found the instructions, as it's not working properly.

This week I've also started to sort childcare for DS2 after his school move (almost there), phoned his teacher about the arrangements for visits to the new place, went to the new school to order uniform, chased the quote for the car repair (need to forward it to the other party involved now), sent an e-mail chasing my blueshoots order (got a bad feeling about this one) and caught up with a few things for work (not nearly enough, though). Maybe even more, but I can't remember.

Enjoyable trip to Costco with DS2 - I bought some lovely new pillows and a warm hooded coat for myself, which was only £12.

I've got a dilemma now. My small vented TD has died and I saw a lovely shiny condenser one in costco for a really good price. However, the only place for it would be the top of the cellar steps (and I might even be able to fit my freezer on there, too, so it doesn't mess up the DR). My original plans for that place (which is currently full of carp/gibble) was to put up as much shelving as possible, to organise all manner of things. Don't know what to do now. The small space in the kitchen is only suitable for a small vented dryer. Last time I had to replace it I already couldn't get one quite as small as before, and if the manufacturer increases the size even more, I've had it. It would also be nice to use the space for small appliances, such as my SC, which is cluttering up my tiny worktop. We would still be able to keep some of the old cellar shelves which are high up on the walls, and I'd be able to move some other furniture in the DR, so we can close the door to the rest of the house again.

What do I go for: Lots of shelving space for 'stuff', or nicer rooms and a bigger/better TD, resulting in a bit more space in the kitchen and no need to have the window open in this weather just to get the washing dry?

Sorry for the long post. I've read the last few pages of the thread and would love to catch up properly, but I suspect there are more sensible uses for my time (such as DH's tax return and getting more washing sorted).

Rose - glad you decided to stay. I'd got to the same point a while ago, but fortunately toots made me see sense.
Poppytime - thanks for the pm, will get back to you later.

I think that's it for the moment - huge hugs to everyone who'd like them.

***phew*** just caught up on pages 53 -57 missed out earlier, my goodness you lot don't half natter!

Fab to see you Rose x

Toots your list is bigger than the one I daren't post, however, now a standing joke in the ceebeeby house that there are lists for lists ... even the hamster has a flying list re: tidying up after themselves!!!

Pigpen, the flappers thingamy sounds fabulous. I have a heavy beaded dress in cream which is flappers style that I have absolutely no sentimentality too whatsoever as it's now massively too small - I'd happily give it to you if you can get into a 12/14?

I love littlemeisters star and that she loved it too!

I've also now flyed myself and am lovely and clean to get into the lovely fresh clean sheets. I've even treated them to a quick spritz of Jo Malone fabric spray (a gift that I'm eeking out to last at least a year) and the smell is divine - wafting through the whole room!

I love the results of this flying x
