I am starting SW eating plan today, I'm not going to classes though but will weigh at home once a week.

I have the red/green SW book from the last time I joined, how is the EE plan different from the red SW plan?

OK think I have partially answered my own question, EE is mixing red and original eating plans. How do you find this? I have always favoured the red diet as I am not a big potato, pasta, bread eater.

    Thanks

For what feels like the millionth time, I've come back to SW. It's the only lifestyle that really works for me and my family. I bought the May/June magazine yesterday and had a good read through. Can someone explain Extra Easy to me though? I've done red and green days previously, which I understand the basics of but just can't get my head around EE through the menus :o

    Thanks

If a food is syn free on green then it's also free on EE
If a food is syn free on red then it's also free on EE
1 HEA and 1 HEB each day
At least one third of each meal should be superfree foods ie fruit or non-starchy vegetables
    5 to 15 syns a day
    Try and choose superfree snacks
If a food is not syn free then count it as the lowest of the syn values given for red/green

    Hope that helps!

  • Sorry to burst your bubble, but shop-bought, spit-roast chicken has syns. Off the top of my head I can't remember how many but will try to find out and post later.

I confess to not knowing this myself till it came up at an area meeting recently - it appears that these chickens are injected with oil to keep them moist while they're being spit-roasted.

Following on from this, here is the reply from Slimming World Head Office :-

Rotisserie Chicken – We have found that some supermarkets do inject the chickens that are put on the rotisserie with extra oil to make them tastier. The best way to check if the chicken would be Syn free with the skin and any visible fat removed would be to ask at the counter if they are adding/injecting anything into the chickens.

    Hope this clarifies things :)

oooooooooooooo noooooooooo! lol. Wow i didnt know that! I always remove the skin on the chicken. I know from some of the chicken breasts i have bought from there they have been a bit on the dry side.. but thinking about it now, the thighs do leave a bit of oil when i've left them on the paper bag thingy they are served in when i have removed the skin...

I'm thinking tho that they must can't be too high if they do have syns because i haven't actually gained weight i've always lost and i have had the chicken regularly... but having said that i am definately going to make a point of asking them if they do inject extra oil into the chickens. Thanks for the heads up Consultant31!! :)

i dont think my local asda adds any oil to their rotisserie chicken because they are so dry you need half a pint of water to help you eat them lol.
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

yesterday we had an indian takeaway as my brother is back off to uni 2mro, it was divine... absolutely divine! (lots of syns tho!)

    EE

B - 2 x sunnybisk & milk (heb + hea) with chopped banana followed by rhubarb mullerlight

L - Cous Cous salad containing a whole red pepper and large chunk of cucumber with free yog and mint dip (0.5)

No snacks as done 6 hours of gardening

D - INDIAN!!! Lamb Rogan Josh (6.5) 3 large poppadoms (i am addicted) (12 -oops) Plain boiled rice, Large helping of onion and herb salad, mini bhagi (3.5), mini samosa (3) and mini shish kebab x 2 (6) 1 tbsp mango chutney (2) 1 tbsp cue raita (1)

The bhaji, samosas and mini shish were bought from Asda so save money!

grand total of 33.5 syns.... damn i wish i had more control where poppadoms are concerned... i think they are officially my weakness - definately!

    Today is EE day

B - 28g Jordans museli (heb) with milk (hea)

L - Steak, SW Chips and salad

D - something light such as a boiled egg or something as dinner is expected to fill me to the brim!

Keeping syns low to minimise last nights indian blow out! Going to have a 1/2 fat cadbury choc mousse for afters (3) plus a pink and white with cup of tea this evening :)

    5.5 syns :)
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

I've only been doing SW for 2 weeks and I haven't got my head around it properly, I've just done Green so far, but am quite keen to try EE. I think I will have a few red days first though to give me a break from carbs!

Today I haven't decided yet, brekkie was weetabix and milk (HEA+B)
I'm going to nip around the shop in a min and get some veggies yum!
