Good Morning
Hope you are all enjoying the nice weather we have here.
I am house and dog sitting for friends this week so all of a sudden I am walking at least 4 miles a day from doing no exercise at all. I'm hoping it will boost my metabolism
Does anyone know the syns in Ben & Jerry's phish food frozen yogurt?
My friend bought me some because she knows I'm on a diet but I still want to measure it out so I stay on plan.
Thanks!Start weight - 13st 6lbs

Morning all
Have been lurking and finally caught up on everyone's posts and felt it was time to jump back in and post again!
I completely understand that group isn't for everyone - it is for me, as I need to be accountable to someone when I weigh in - left to my own devices, I convince myself that any gain is sooooo easy to lose "next week" that it doesn't really matter ....:o:o:o
I used to do Rosemary Conley (I loved the exercise but after a while I did feel a little deprived so lost interest) and found that I tend to be a "fortnightly loser" and now at SW, there seem to be quite of a lot of others in the same position - so whilst you might be really good and still STS or sometimes gain a little, by the next WI, your body's caught up and you show a more significant loss (if that makes sense).
I managed to stay away from excess chocs over Easter - although maybe lost my way with the pamper day at a local spa complete with some of the nicest food I've had in ages (and crumble & custard made by angels.....:A) and managed to lose 2lb and was joint slimmer of the week.:j
Can I ask, does anyone else's group do a SoW "prize" ? At our meeting, everyone brings something for the hamper and this is the prize - so it could be a tin of beans, some fruit or veg, tin of tuna - anything really, as long as it is either free or low-syn and the consultant always enjoys going through and making suggestions for what we could make/do with the ingredients and advises on syn values for the less obvious items. It's just an added incentive really and lets face it, when you are buying bananas by the bag load, does it really hurt to donate one to the hamper ??:D Apologies if this is standard SW practice, this is the only group I've ever been to but I really like this hamper business (although have only won the once - so far - now I'm hooked !!!)
Big cheers to all the losers and big hugs to anyone who feels they need one. :grouphug:
Have to say blackberry-rum - your new avatar is completely revolting - but what an incentive, I can't stop looking at it even though I don't want to....:rotfl:

I agree about being a fortnightly loser. Providing ive stuck to the plan I usually lose 0.5lb one week then a good 2lbs+ the next week then the same pattern continues. I have to keep reminding myself that if ive been naughtly and i still lose that it will show the following week.
My class also does the sow prize. In ours though she only wants fresh fruit, veg and herbs. Sometimes the basket is overflowing with the same stuff. In my old class it was similar to yours fresh fruit etc but also low syn no syn stuff like tins of beans, toms, noodles etc. I thought this was better as there was a huge variety of stuff and some things you hadnt tried before.
A few people are saying its harder to lose the 2nd/3rd time around with SW. For me personally I find its because I know the plan better, know where I can cheat a bit, I dont write absolutly everything down and when I do EE I also dont always have the 3rd superfree. I alos know SW works so I have the mentality that 'dont worry you can lose it easily' so I dont try as hard then all of a sudden its another 2 months down the line and im still fluctuating around the same weight.
When I did it first time I was very strict. I did mainly green days with a couple of reds (EE didnt exist) I was losing 3-4lb everyweek I was getting SOW every other week and I lost just under 3 st in 3 months.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Lost 5 lbs in the past 2 weeks.. not alot but its a start. Goal is to lose 20.0

That's a great loss. Apparently if you lose between 1 - 2lbs per week you are more likely to keep it off.
Well done! :TStart weight - 13st 6lbs

On a sad note a friend from school who is also a member of the group suddenly passed away friday night:( she was a wonderful girl who had always struggled with her weight. Wendy- sorry to hear about your friend. It is such a shock when a young person you know dies. Well done on sticking to plan though! I also wanted to say to you that I have a baby Henry too! Mine is 5 months old!
I've been off plan for two days. We've had our kitchen replaced, so had no sink or cooker and no access to any of our kitchen stuff while it was being done. I tried not to be too bad, but I had a shop bought sarnie and a danish pastry so not ideal! I did avoid the chippy tea that everyone else had and went for a mushroom chow mein instead, and yesterday had a tuna salad instead of another sandwich, then had pasta last night instead of another takeaway. Hopefully I haven't totally blown it if I am super good from now until Wednesday. I'm back on it today.
B- 2 x pears, skinny Latte (HEA)
L-L/F cottage cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, jacket potato
D-Quorn sausages (2 syns), carrots, broccoli, sweetcorn, peas, spinach, mashed potato
Snacks- Fibre Plus bar (HEB), satsuma, strawberries, dash of milk in tea x 2 (1 syn)
Think that's it, plus lots of water!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Hi all,
I have debated whether to go back to slimming world for a while now, then remembered about this great forum for help and advice.
I was recently told by my GP that I have a wheat allergy. Can anyone give me any advice on whether sw will be suitable?
There are bread alternatives and pasta alternatives but I am not sure if the pasta will be suitable for green days?
Any advice would be great, going to join the class close to me on tuesday all being well.
Thanks0 -

Hi jenniflower, I am also wheat intolerant and find sw great. I don't eat any of the wheat free substitutes apart from the pasta and that is also considered free on green/extra easy daysI'm not sure if you can use the bread for heb but will check in a minute - I do know that most wf substitutes are quite high in syns
I only found out I was WI last July and I really struggled because I used to live on microwave meals, but doing sw has really encouraged me to cook from scratch and I now eat a much better variety of food.
Ok have just checked and there are several different wf breads/rolls listed as heb that weren't there when I started a couple of months ago! The genius bread which is the only one I've tried and liked isn't listed as heb but is listed as 5 syns per slice. Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0
