I've got 4 1/2 stone to lose, and i absolutely can't afford to join a group or online SW. I did manage to lose 3 1/2 stone on SW a few years ago but unfortunately i managed to eat it all again!! I've got a weight loss record, and WI day is Wednesday. Going ok so far, but rather afraid I'll wimp out.... Any suggestions to keep my motivation up please?
Hi Carol - could your motivation simply be "I've got 4 1/2 stone to lose"? I just left the pub after a big glass of sparkling mineral water, leaving my friends heading for their third pints to be followed by a (yummy yummy) curry. I was internally murmuring "I'd rather be a size slimmer than have a curry; I'd rather be a size slimmer than have a curry ...etc". And don't anyone tell me I can have tandoori chicken and boiled rice, I wouldn't eat that on or off a diet!
It was hard, but I've come home, got a glass of my own lovely wine (6 syns) , much nicer than the pub's, and am cooking dhal with rice, absolutely syn free and to my delight Asda wholemeal pitta bread is now a healthy extra so I will warm up one of them to scoop up my food. I shall just be boring :cool:until I lose a stone, then have a little blow out, then be boring :cool:for the next stone, etc. That's what I've decided.
Do you measure yourself as well Carol? I stayed the same this week but my measurements were half an inch down (6" overall lost) which eased the blow.
And you will get lots of support on here.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

Hi everyone - and well done Takeiteazy :T:T:T
AM feeling v sorry for myself today - NASTY tummy bug yesterday - and still not feeling great - my body seems to be deciding whether to launch into full blown cold/sore throat - or whether to just teeter on the edge...:(
I still manage to feel hungry though:o

Hi,
I hope nobody minds if I join in the group?
I have done slimming world twice before and loved it, plus it really worked for me (ok not that well as the weight did go back on).
I have been doing it TO THE BOOK for a month now, not going to group though due to family commitments (but that will change from the week after next when my little boy starts preschool) and I have lost ONLY FOUR POUNDS!!!!!
I stopped smoking as well, could that be it? Has my metabolism slowed down to zilch? I just cannot understand it and would love to hear from anybody in a similar position.
Previously I was loosing between 3 and 7lbs a week and I am doing nothing differently now other than the smoking.
Felicity! x
I am doing sw for the 2nd time and I must admit its a lot slower going than last time, I don't know why but thought that must be the way. Hopefully someone can explain. BUT then I go and have a big loss this week so the answer is to keep at it, we get there in the end [hopefully :rotfl:]Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Hi Felicity,
I have been going to class for 4 weeks and only lost 4 and a half pounds. Feeling really disheartened about it as I've been following to the letter.
I spoke to my consultant and she thinks I may have an intolerance to carbs due to ovary problems! So she suggested just doing red days ( which are my least favourite). I managed 5 red days and 2 green last week and lost 1 1/2 pounds.
And haven't even given in to the easter eggs!
I think for me personally it's because I did Lighter life 6 years ago and that has seriously messed up my metabolism.
I'm still going to stick at it though as by hook or by crook I want this weight off eventually!
Lisa x
Thanks Lisa
Freaky, I too have issues with my ovaries, having an op soon to remove a cyst! Maybe that could be it, I might try having red days then, thanks for the tip, it wasn't an issue before but even so, worth trying.
Good luck! You sound very determined. I am too, absolutely determined to follow the plan to the dot, I have never had such motivation and determination yet am not seeing any results. Keeping going though and it feels wonderful not to be a slave to cigarettes after so many years of being so.

This is the nicest (by far) SW dish I have ever made and just had to share it. I took some tips off another recipe and added bits of my own. I must say, I love very authentic and very hot curries so tried to make it so, but you can easily adapt to suit your taste.
This makes a huge quantity - probably 8 portions. I never really measure out, just go with the flow but will try to estimate quantities:-
TOTALLY FREE (GREEN DAY) DELICIOUS CURRY (USING SUPRISE INGREDIANT OF MUSHY PEAS)
INGREDIENTS
- 5 onions
- Pack (about 15) of fresh baby sweetcorn (you could use any veg or even none at all)
- 5 tins of chopped tomatoes
- 4 tins of mushy peas (trust me, it works)
- 1/2 pot (about 35g) madras curry powder (use more or less to taste).
- 2 packs quorn fillets (I used frozen ones, about 5 in a each pack).
- 80g pack long finger (or any type) chillies. You can used none or perhaps just a couple - I go mad with chillies as I love them so much, they also speed up your metabolism which can only be a good thing.
- Handful of curry leaves (really totally optional, gives a lovely authentic sour taste I feel, I only chucked them in as I had lots in the freezer. You can easily leave out).
- Massive bunch coriander (because I love the stuff).
METHOD
1. Leave the quorn out to defrost for an hour or so
2. Liquidise the tinned tomatoes and mushy peas until you have created a smooth sauce
3. Fry the onions in fry light
4. Chop the baby corn and add to onions to fry for a minute
5. Add the curry powder and chopped chillies to fry for a minute
6. Add in the curry leaves if using
7. Add the tomato / pea mixture and simmer for 1/2 hour to an hour
8. Add the chopped quorn and cook for a further 10 minutes
9. Chop up all the coriander (stalks included) and throw in
10. Remove the curry leaves and serve.
It was absolutely gorgeous and I am sure it will freeze, reheat well. It was lovely with rice, I am going to try with SW chips next.
I think that for next time I will also add a big handful of peppercorns and lots of garlic (for taste and health benefits). It could probably be further enhanced by a dollop of low fat natural yogurt on top too or a riata made with yogurt and cucumber.
I hope you enjoy it if you decide to make it.0 -

I wondered if that was the case, maybe something to do with your body being used to it from previously, not such a shock to the system, metabolism related etc.
I would love to hear from anybody who can shed light on this.0 -
Well if I don't put on weight at the WI on Monday it's going to be a miracle. I didn't attend last week due to there being no image therapy afterwards (I resent paying almost a fiver just to weigh) so I've had two weeks since my last session... which has essentially turned into two weeks 'off.' It's amazing how quickly I've managed to slip into my old bad habits again!
Still, I'm not that disheartened, I think I'd got myself into a state where I wanted to lose a lot of weight as quickly as possible and I think slowing it down a little bit might actually do me some good and stop me crashing off the plan completely. Although I am off to Turkey for a week in a couple of weeks so it would be nice to get another 7lb off!Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
Food today
B - 3 weetabix [b's] milk [a] coffee
L/T - mash, beans, toms.
Snacks - several small pickled onions straight from the jar , vanilla & choc muller
Syns - maccoys [8]
I have been writing everything down since I came off meds [12 weeks] and have lost 12lb in total whichs averages out to 1lb a week. This I believe is an ideal loss, so if your weight loss is slow take heart you WILL get where you want to be so good luck and keep up the good work.
P.S Thank you all for your support and congrats today, much appreciated :A thought I might have pigged out as a celebration but found I didn't want/need too:j.

Morning all
Have been lurking and finally caught up on everyone's posts and felt it was time to jump back in and post again!
I completely understand that group isn't for everyone - it is for me, as I need to be accountable to someone when I weigh in - left to my own devices, I convince myself that any gain is sooooo easy to lose "next week" that it doesn't really matter ....:o:o:o
I used to do Rosemary Conley (I loved the exercise but after a while I did feel a little deprived so lost interest) and found that I tend to be a "fortnightly loser" and now at SW, there seem to be quite of a lot of others in the same position - so whilst you might be really good and still STS or sometimes gain a little, by the next WI, your body's caught up and you show a more significant loss (if that makes sense).
I managed to stay away from excess chocs over Easter - although maybe lost my way with the pamper day at a local spa complete with some of the nicest food I've had in ages (and crumble & custard made by angels.....:A) and managed to lose 2lb and was joint slimmer of the week.:j
Can I ask, does anyone else's group do a SoW "prize" ? At our meeting, everyone brings something for the hamper and this is the prize - so it could be a tin of beans, some fruit or veg, tin of tuna - anything really, as long as it is either free or low-syn and the consultant always enjoys going through and making suggestions for what we could make/do with the ingredients and advises on syn values for the less obvious items. It's just an added incentive really and lets face it, when you are buying bananas by the bag load, does it really hurt to donate one to the hamper ??:D Apologies if this is standard SW practice, this is the only group I've ever been to but I really like this hamper business (although have only won the once - so far - now I'm hooked !!!)
Big cheers to all the losers and big hugs to anyone who feels they need one. :grouphug:
Have to say blackberry-rum - your new avatar is completely revolting - but what an incentive, I can't stop looking at it even though I don't want to....:rotfl:
M. xI was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......0
