Marion you sound like you have nearly as many kitchen gadgets as me....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

I love my gadgets! I should have called myself gadgetqueen!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
I have just made a lovely SW dinner in my actifry. 3 syns for half tblsp extra virgin olive oil. Sliced new potatoes, peppers, and butternut squash cooked for 15 minutes, added a steak cut into bite sized chunks and half a dozen chestnute mushrooms quartered and cooked for another 5 minutes. Put on to a plate, add seasoning and mmmm good! I was starving as just spent hours at the hairdressers (lowlights and a cut and blow) and missed my lunch!

    Marion:)

    how good are the actifrys?

i googled them online but some said they are good and some said they are hard to clean and are prone to catching fire so was a bit put off

also doing sw chips in them whats the syn value? how much oil does it need and what portion size does it hold

i kno they are dear but was wondering if they are worth it for the chips lol

    thanks in advance xxx

Very easy to clean, just a wipe around with a paper towel or pop the bits into the sink or dishwasher, it all comes apart easily. There was a thing a couple of years ago where a tiny percent caught on fire but that fault has been sorted now and the ones being sold now are ok (hopefully:rotfl:)
You can cook 1kg of freshly cut potatoes with just under a tblsp of oil - so 5 or 6 syns for a whole kilo! As much as I love chips even I can't eat a kilo of them! Oven chips like the mccains rustic which are only 1 syn for 100g come up lovely and you don't add any oil for those ones. I normally cut up an average sized potato into scallops or wedges and only use about a tsp of oil for 2 syns.

Prices have come down a bit too, I got mine on Amazon but I think Sainsbury on line had them for £125. Last year they were £199 everywhere:eek:

    Evening all

A good 2nd day on SW for me. I work with teens and they all wanted to go to McDonald's for lunch. They all tucked into burgers and fries, whilst I sat in the minibus eating my pasta salad and hard boiled egg! :)

    Green Day:

B - shreddies (HEB) with skimmed milk (HEA)
L - pasta with LF pesto (1syn), butter beans, salad, hard boiled egg
D - stirfry veg with tofu, noodles, HM egg fried rice, black bean sauce (4syns)
Snacks - pear, orange, cheese (HEA)

Need another HEB, so may have some Alpen lights or piece of toast later.

  • quick update on my soup making. It was nice, but nothing to write home about. I don't think it was smooth enough, do you usually sieve it and get some of the lumps out of it before serving? Or do I just have a really crap blender :rotfl:

Could anyone please look up the syns for: Warburtons Raisin Loaf with cinnamon, and the Fruit Loaf with Orange please? I've been having a big toasted teacake craving for the last few days, and these look nice!
