Must try & get properly back into the OS ways. Haven't been here for absolutly ages, even though I read through. I do love these threads!

(((Bitsy))). I know where you are coming from. My DD was a great sleeper. DS came along 2 years later. He slept dreadfully. He'd only sleep on me on his bedroom floor. I ended up really ill with pneumonia in hospital when he turned a year through lack of sleep cos I couldn't fight off the infection.

I have a new baby now (he's 9 months) & so far, touch wood, he;s ok.

My older 2 try & play me & dh off against each other. Grrrr.

    Happy Birthday Beemused!

Have some beef in gravy defrosing (xmas day leftover!) & a pork loin for dd defrosting. Am cooking from the freezer this week.

We are baking some fairy cakes today as well. I need to stop buying stuff for the lunch boxes & start baking again. Having the baby has set me back a little!

Right, off to get on with some bits.

    Morning all
Not been on much this weekend as been fighting off this head cold and chesty cough DS gave me;)
Have managed to make him a smartie traybake so he is a happy lad....Have brisket in the SC and doing cauli cheese, roasties and carrots later.
Have ironing to do again:rolleyes: and the beds to change.
Bitsy sorry it is all getting to you....please dont think I dont moan on here:oand beat yourself up about that.....i do moan on here sometimes, but I usually moan at my mum or friends or OH. I think the controlled crying is the way to go, see your health visitor about it. You also need to try to get some sleep at other times so you can cope better. I know I am in a different situation as DS sleep problems seem to be part of his autism/ADHD but I have given up trying to stay up late each night. I have realised he will prob always have these sleep probs( he is just too active and doesnt need much sleep hence he can get up at 3 or 4 everyday and never tire from it) I now go to bed early a couple of nights a week to catch up. It means I dont see much of OH on these nights but it is better than me being grumpy moo;). I cant sleep in the day when he is at school as like you I start feeling guilty about falling behind with the jobs. Somehow though you can manage so much better if you have had some sleep and dont get too sleep deprived. I have sent you that book btw...at last:o:p;)
I am currently working out what bloomin contraception to use(TMI:o) now that the pill has been ruled out due to migraine probs:rolleyes:. It is causing me huge stress at mo......was thinking of coil but then read a thread on here about lots of people getting pregnant on that:oput me off. So now am thinking may have to have op.....this worries me and keeps upsetting me as it is so final....even though I do not want anymore children the finality of that is upsetting. actually it is prob because I do want more children but am having to force myself not to because it would not work with all DS`s problems and having no support here for me and OH apart from each other. In a way autism is forcing me not to have anymore children and it is quite emotional and upsetting. Will have to kick myself out of this mood:rolleyes:;)

Firstly Happy Birthday Beemuzed  I am sorry I never remember to check the birthdays :o:o

Secondly thank you for all the hugs. You have all made me smile. I've been back to bed for an hour, didn't sleep much as it was noisy downstairs (DS has 2 levels - dead silent or loud ) but at least I got to rest my eyes.
thanks for the suggestions of controlled crying. We didn't this with DD regarding bedtime as she decided she wanted to be cuddled to bed. I tried leaving her this morning (around 4.40am) but she gets so loud it wakes DS up  Have also tried leaving DS and he ended up getting so stressed he woke up DD  My HV is lovely so I might see if I can pop and see her this coming clinic and see if she has any suggestions. Its hard enough coping with DS keep waking but if DD is going to start too I am going to crack!

I will try and make some time for myself - I think I have to accept like NPM that a couple of nights I won't really see H. Shame as after DS has been put to bed and sat with (again if he's left he wakes DD) its nearly 8.30pm and there's not much evening left at the best of times. Still needs must I suppose.

thank you all so much for putting up with my moaning. I am really glad I have you guys to talk to, even if it's only via the web :)

PS. NPM - I don't think you complain half as much as I do. I hope you weren't offended by my comments - I meant you have it much worse as there is perhaps little prospect of it improving whereas I hope and pray that's the case with my two. Thanks for sending the book - you're a star :D

Right off to measure my veggie patch for some proper netting come spring. Have a good day all.

    Morning!

Bitsy- Hope things let up soon for you, can speak from experience that everything is made worse by a lack of sleep. With all you have to do, make sure to take care of YOU!

Happy Birthday Beemuzed! :bdaycake: Will there be cake? :D

Lazy day today in prep for 'back to it' tomorrow morning. Have started a load of towels, going to get a post up and then make a bit of cake . . . . not sure what yet. BH is off detecting in a new field, the first really nice day we've had for ages so I'm sure he's in seventh heaven although I did just get a text to say he's not found any real goodies so far.

Hope to get my 'chore' list done for the coming week, feel better and seem to get more accomplished if I can tick things off as I go. Mean to get all of the hock bones I've hoarded in the freezer out this week and make summit. Besides pea & ham soup, shall have to have a look round and see what I can come up with!
  • Bitsy i wasnt offended at all by your comment. We all have different problems on here at times and are all entitled to a moan;)
See if there are any books in the library or cheap on Amazon and read up on sleep probs and controlled crying. I think it will prob be harder to sort out as you have the two of them who are going to wake each other up:rolleyes: but am sure there will be a way forward. I am no expert on it at all:o but if they are in a routine of having to be cuddled to sleep you are prob storing up problems in the long run although in the short term it is prob an easy solution. I dont think controlled crying is easy as it can be a very tough few weeks but it seems to work in the end. I used to cuddle DS to sleep and my HV berated me for it:o. i had a tough few weeks of him screaming for me which is hard to ignore but eventually he started to settle and sleep on his own which in the main he still does( eventually). His problem as I said earlier is getting up early and starting his day at 3 or 4am. I then have to be up with him....am hoping like Tiredmums DS he may eventually be able to get up safely and do his own thing without me having to be up too;) .
Do see your HV and ask for help, it will make such a difference. ((hugs))

PS am feeling left out as I didnt get a pervy PM:rotfl:, maybe because I dont wear an apron;)

    Morning all,

Well I'll just have to go against the grain and say my three were fantastic sleepers. :p Especially DS2 (No 3) who slept through at 2 weeks. The other two were sleeping through around 6 weeks though. On the other hand DGS is a horrific sleeper  and this is the main thing that takes it out of me when he's staying. DH sleeps through it all. I tell DGS each morning that I'm going to put him out on the verandah at night if he keeps it up and the toads will jump on him then. Doesn't work. :D He says * I know your only tricking Ninny*. :D I'd try and get a nap during the day if they still go down for afternoon sleeps. Housework can wait but sleep will make it easier for you to cope.

Did some yard work today and caught up with the washing & ironing. I hope to do the bulk of the packing tomorrow. Benny is getting cut in the morning.

Beemuzed Happy Birthday. Hope you have a lovely day.

I'm off to bed. Hope you enjoy your day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
