Hugs Bitsy, sorry to hear you are having such a hard time, sorry no advice to offer, one of mine was a lousy sleeper, I spent years in a state of exhaustion.

I have found out that at least 3 of us got the pervy apron message, so I'm not alone.

WM is on, DW is on, roast turkey for dinner & I will probably wave the vacuum around for a bit.

    Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning to you all!

First of all, big hugs to Bitsy, I've been through similar to you and it is so hard. DD was always a good sleeper, so I was somewhat shocked to find DS wasn't . I used to try to sleep as much as I could during the day and not feel guilty about the house being in a state, but it's hard if you can't switch off. Could you just take a nice bubble bath or relax on the sofa if you can't sleep? Mine are 'Daddy Daddy' too - he does all the fun things but I do everything with them on a day to day basis.

NLMC, full English breakfast eh - yum, hope you all enjoy it!

Sunnyday, I smiled when I saw about your little black cat - our dog goes to the door and if it looks cold/wet/snowy she tries to turn around and run back to bed ! She's been much happier now the weather has warmed up a bit.

Essexgirl, good luck with your big blitz and I hope you enjoy your scrapbooking this afternoon.

Got kids down with me watching TV and just about to take DH a cup of tea, then unload the WM and hang up, get dressed and make the beds. There's odd bits I want to do this morning but I think this afternoon we're going to the Arboretum which will be nice.

Done my meal plan for the week and am using the slow cooker 3 times; I love my SC! DH made some bread in the bread maker with DD yesterday so I think I may get a bit brave with that one too!! I've just ordered Martin's book 'Thrifty Ways' and am looking forward to reading that - seems to have good reviews by other people on MSE.

    Have a good day!

ps thanks to those who recommended the Neutrogena hand cream - I got some yesterday and it is helping already :j

Hugs Bitsy. My kids were also not good sleeping but I did controlled crying at night and morning. It worked but it was two weeks of unmitigated hell but i had support and it did work. Tough mothering is what I had to practice then but it totally went against the grain especially when little one was sobbing. Im having to practice it at the moment with DS1 and its still hard as your nature is to give. However if you get sleeping sorted by some method your kids will benefit longterm as you will be happier by short term pain.

Im not sure whats on for today. I guess usual washing and a pile of ironing to organise. HM lasagne for dinner and freezer.

    Have a good Sundayx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    morning all :D

Bitsy those early years are very difficult if they are poor sleepers. remember it doesnt last forever, ... it just feels like it
I agree with Juliejim try and take some time out for yourself, its a thankless task at times being a mum and the occasional time they appreciate you makes it all worthwhile (((hugs))) to you x

Sunny I used to work shifts but now I have a 'normal' job, I dont miss those nights or early mornings at all ( and I get every weekend off too ;))

Hester glad you were not the only recipient of the 'pervy pm' thanks for the pm

taking DD1 :cool:to her gymnastics coaching job and then off to costco and JTF. JTF have an offer on wash powder and fabric conditioner, its one of those 'when its gone its gone' offers so I am hoping they still have some

need butter, bacon , fruit juice, cheese from costco

just about to put a gammon joint in the slow cooker for later and shall do mash and veg with it

have a good day everyone x

    Good morning everyone :)

Bitsy *hugs* I have no kids of my own as of yet so I suppose I have all this to look forward to!

I'm feeling so much better today. Got an amazing night's sleep and was woken by the wet nose of a shepherd wanting a cuddle :money:

Since then I've been up, fed the dogs, done the dishes, put some washing in, hoovered the living room and stairs and put the rubbish out.

Now to tackle the bathroom again. The pup keeps breaking in there and climbing in the bath. The weather has given her muddy paws these pasty few days and she's got mud all over the bath. I cleaned it out and scrubbed it with disinfectant but there are still brown stains. I've used a solution of vinegar and water but that hasn't worked either. My next idea is to use diluted bleach and leave it to soak on - it's a white (enamel I think, just a standard bath) bath, do you think it'll be ok?

    Morning all

Just popped in to say, Bitsy, I know its no help but we all understand what you're going through so please feel free to come on here and moan or pm. My DD used to wake every 2 hours up to the age of 18 months, but she is 32 now and it seems a lifetime away, but reading about your DS and DD brings it all back.

Off to shower now then the walk to the village, just need to resist the bakers!!

((((Hugs)))) to all who want them

    Morning All,

Hope I can join you all, I have been posting on weekly flylady too.

Bitsy, I know what you are going through, my kids are past it now (8, 6 & 4), but even last night I woke up to find the 3 of them in my bed, so 5 in a double-bed is a disaster and they are too big now, so I took DS 1 through to his double bed and slept there with him. This I know is my own fault because I ponder to them too much, but I need my sleep and really am one of those horrible people when I don't get it, so in the middle of the night I will do whatever it takes to get back to sleep. It does get easier, I am saying they were all in my bed last night, but its only maybe once a week - 12 days this happens, and at least 5 out 7 days its only DS 3, 2 days out of 7 its only me and DH (hurray).

Keep your chin up, perhaps leaving OH to it for an hour and going for a walk, will clear your head, I found that helped with me.

OS - I plan to make toad in the hole today for tea, from a recipe book I got for xmas, the other recipe I had was a disaster. I plan to clear out my airing cupboard, and to list at least 15 things on ebay because its free listing day.

I really enjoy reading this thread, and hope to join and post (but it will usually just be weekends I can do this, is this okay?)

    Kalojac xx

    Good morning.

Bitsy It's b****y hard when they're not sleeping & you have to take some time for yourself, as others have said, even if it's locking yourself in the bathroom for an hour & ignoring the screams of chaos from downstairs ;) DD & DS3 were horrific sleepers and I did the controlled crying thing too in the end on the advice of my health visitor. DD was 10 months old when I did it & DS3 was 18 months. It was a week of misery but then they settled when put to bed, stayed asleep all night and woke in the morning very much refreshed - and so did I :rotfl: Talk to your health visitor she will have lots of ideas & support for you. I second the idea of getting out to Mums & Tots and similar it's brilliant being able to talk to other Mums who will be going through the exact same thing. ((Hugs))

Diva Thank you honey you are an angel xx

Well the day has started off interestingly to say the least! DD, who was supposed to be staying at a friends house, came home at 2am as she had had too much to drink & felt awful  Cue lots of me not being very happy with her and her Dad being the one who gave all the tea & sympathy! She's still asleep now but has work at 12 so I shall wake her soon. DS1 came home at 3am and ended up knocking us up as he'd forgotten his keys  I'll take great delight in waking him up soon too :D

I am doing our lunch - roast chicken & all the trimmings - for 12.30pm and tea tonight will be ham sandwiches, salad & lemon drizzle cake. The boys, especially, seem to do much better having their main meal at lunchtime on a Sunday & it means that I'm not spending the day in the kitchen.

Usual bit of ironing, chasing homework up, polishing shoes and washing blazers this afternoon and I'm hoping to have a read of a good book that I ordered from the library later on.

Have a good day all & the biggest of hugs to anyone who needs it.

Hester Hope that the prev is soon shamed into stopping sending pm's to unsuspecting people.

Oh Bitsy - I do sympathise with you! It's so hard feeling constantly bone-tired and I guess at the moment you can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. It will get better, really - but meanwhile rant as much as you need on here!
Am having very quiet day here. have opened cards etc and spoken to DH, but it's a big contrast to the celebrations last year (but then that was a big one!!)
had lovely day with DS and family yesterday, but the weather put paid to their plans to take me on the London Eye - wouldn't have seen a thing for the pouring rain!
Need to do a bit of shopping soon - had taken milk out of freezer last night, but have discovered this morning that the container had split - I have a bowl of milk and a fast emptying container sitting in it!
Hope you all have a good Sunday.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
