Rikki wrote:remove digi noise' in PSP10 ........... enlighten me.
Got this just by typing 'paint shop pro remove digital camera noise reduction' into Google
Identifying Noise
What does digital noise look like? Dots, speckles, and smudges of random color. Noise is easiest to see in regions of regular color. You can see it in skin tones or on a wall in the background, for instance. In my example, you might not notice the noise at first. But check out a small detail of the original image and you'll see a lot of noise, both in the background and in the girl's face.
Minimizing Noise in the Camera
Your battle against noise can be a two-pronged attack. You can help minimize it in your digital camera before you take the photo, then reduce it even further on the PC.
As I recommended last week, use higher ISO values only when you need to; the lower your ISO, the less noise you'll get in your photos. Also, check your camera's settings for a noise-reduction mode. Many digital cameras--especially models that support very high ISO levels--have a menu setting that reduces noise when the ISO is set at 800 or higher. It's a good idea to turn this on.
Reducing Noise on the PC
After you take your photos and transfer them to your computer, you can work some digital magic. Many image editors, including Corel's Paint Shop Pro and Adobe's Photoshop Elements, have a noise-reduction filter. In Paint Shop Pro, for instance, you can choose Adjust, Photo Fix, Digital Camera Noise Removal and use the default settings. In Photoshop Elements, you can find a similar feature by selecting Filter, Noise, Reduce Noise.

Nice shot and i see the angle you are coming from when taking it but can i give you a couple of C+C tipsRikki wrote:First attempt.I'm impressed. I think he's smiling and look no redeye.
I notice you used ISO 400 - i would use ISO 200, it will give a better light effect. Using a higher iso (film sensitivity) cam make the image not as good as using a lower ISO Also, i notice that you didnt use a flash? If you dont have a flash (i know there is one built in but imho it is rubbish compared with external), i reccomend you get the Canon Speedlite 430EX Flashgun - its a good quality gun and will fill the image with enough light to make the object jump out like you want.
did you pp the image? if not, run it through photoshop or that and do some post prosessing (pp) on the image - makes it sharper etc...
please dont think im being rude, im not, i just want to give you some pointer tips on the best way to get the best out of your equipment...
end of the day - please use my comments as constructive critism (C+C means that) and as the old saying goes, you learn as you go along... but honestly, im not being rude with my comments so please dont take them to heart....

mclaren I'm happy for the constructive critism. Just don't be too brutal as I am prone to sulking. No seriouly I'm grateful for the help.
I basically just used my 300mm lens and pointed and shot. Just to try out the lens.
I do have a Canon Speedlite will have to check which one. Don't know if the subject will pose again.
Off to find Flash and check out how to alter the settings.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

lol - sometimes with the automatic settings, they can over/under expose the image - i learned the hardway with ruining loads o nice shots.Rikki wrote:mclaren I'm happy for the constructive critism. Just don't be too brutal as I am prone to sulking. No seriouly I'm grateful for the help.

lol. the more you use your camera, the easier it will get and then you can move on to more advanced settings but the basics is to concentrate on shutter speed, apature and focal length. focal length is pretty easy to work out, whats harder is the apature and shutter speed (but is easy once you have tried it out a few times, remember, shorter the speed, quicker the image. longer the speed, the blurrier it can go but you can get some cool efects this way) but they say, rule of thumb, use as low an ISO as possible to get the best out of the shot
btw - that shot, all you really have to do is pp it and it will look like it was done with flash and that
