personally I think a printer is a waste of money - great if you don't have the patience to wait for the 'real' printers though.
I use these.... I think are very reasonable and good quality - they even send you a monitor calibration card thru the post so you get to adjust gamma to best tweak piccies.
like someone above said start with photography basics, like try to understand the fact that your lens will behave differently with a DSLR (assuming non 35mm sensor) but also try to understand why!
Just out of interest what do you think you will be using this camera for most?
Can't wait to see the piccies!0 -
Rikki wrote:espresso do you do alot of photography?
How do you get to print your cropped photo's at asda etc or are these the ones you do yourself?
I do quite a bit I suppose especially when I go somewhere different. That is the beauty of digital photography, just keep shooting and sooner or later you will amaze yourself! I don't however print out that many and since discovering the quality, cost and convenience of printing at ASDA, I print very few photographs at home now.
I prefer to do my editing, cropping, re-sizing etc. at home on the PC but I have seen others at the photo machine dragging a square over the area that they wish to print. After making any changes, I either burn them to a multi-session CD or write them on to an old smaller memory card for loading on to the machine. Although you can obviously get lots of pictures on a CD, the downside is that when you put it into the machine it scans the whole disc for all pictures and you then have to find the ones that you actually wish to print.
Enjoy your new camera.

Thank you espresso.
Just had a great holiday in Slovenia. Fantastic scenery. I took some pictures with a pocket digital camera and was impressed but missed the SLR but enjoyed the versatility of the digital camera.
Off to find a picture.

Nice photograph. I'm really impressed with the quality from todays cameras, and the ability to 'remove digi noise' in PSP10. Can get the photos looking really smart.
I order my prints online from boots, always really quick service and the amount I do saves me money on paper/inks.0 -

Your 35mm lenses will appear to be 1.6 times their marked focal length (50mm will be an 80mm on the 350D) as the sensor is smaller than a 35mm frame. Obviously a good choice as you already have Canon kit - let us know how you get on, I'm swaying between Canon and Olympus (my Contax/Yashica 35mm lenses can be used with adaptors on these two).0

Its the first time I've really used digital, but I did really miss the SLR. As I was hiking alot of the time is was for convenience. The pictures I did take with the 35mm SLR are as good as normal. (she boasts) but I like the idea of being able to play around and edit the finished picture.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4
