Can anyone help? i have had a next store card since 1992 and have been paying PPI since then, It shows the PPI clearly on the statement. Since i have become aware that you can claim PPI back i sent a letter to next who told me that i always had the option of opting out. I was sold the PPI by a next sales assistant and was told at the time that i had to take it out so that i could have a next card. should i persevere with this?

    Hi there and welcome.;)

Yes do persevere with this and keep at them until they resolve in your favour or until you receive the final response, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, please keep us posted and we can take it one step at a time, good luck.

    Your welcome.;)

They always come out with this response, but like you and many on here, we all used to think PPI was part of the whole thing, so best to keep fighting.;)
    Good luck.

    Hi
I have now received a letter back from next. Basically saying that Next Directory confirmed that between 1988 & 1993 customers like me automatically paid into this scheme upon opeing an account, therfore they have no signature or authorisation from me. they said that in the same years customers were asked if they wanted to Opt out of the PPI scheme in there monthly statements & they had to complete the appropriate section! should i ask for copies of these statements as i dont remember that!! they again stated that PPI is shown on all my statements and that the onus rests with me if i want to cancel ir! they said of course that they would cancel it now for me! they also said that they understood that i would probably contact the Financial Ombudsman but that they will only investigate cases where the incident occurred after 6th April 2007 and that there rules and regulations do not apply in my case. is that true? i have been paying PPI since 1992 to present date.

    Hi there

If your account is still active, then they should hold details on the account.

One of mine was not protected until April 2007, but if this is the case then maybe pursue the actual insurer instead of NEXT, find out who the insurers are/were and write to them, the FOS will or should be able to investigate against these, this is another option after exhausting out the original options, and the FOS are also trying to make the Insurer/Underwriters responsible as well.

Some of us are in the same situation and have gone the insurer direction, maybe go to these instead, and if they do not uphold in your favour move it on to the FOS.;)

So who the hell sold their insurance (if not them) since January, 2005 (when ALL sales of insurance had to be regulated) until April 2007 when they became under FOS jurisdiction????? If between Jan 2005 and April 2007 they sold it and they were not authorised to do they were wrong then?

Just taking here what they told you

"""they said of course that they would cancel it now for me! they also said that they understood that i would probably contact the Financial Ombudsman but that they will only investigate cases where the incident occurred after 6th April 2007 and that there rules and regulations do not apply in my case. is that true? i have been paying PPI since 1992 to present date.""""#

Can't wait for someone who had their sale since Jan 2005 to April 2007 then if what they are saying is true (which i doubt it is) cause anyone selling insurance since 14th Jan 2005 had to be regulated by the FSA and this then means they come under FOS jurisdiction.

Great thanks for both your replies. I am not great at stuff like this so any help is much appreciated. So do you both think that i should write to Next asking for there insurers details? and if i dont have any look with them should i then go to the FOS. thanks again

Yes that is correct, as soon as you have the insurer details you write to these as you did with the previous one, and as usual they have 8 weeks, if they do not uphold then move on to the FOS who should be able to take this on for you.

    Good luck.
