I agree that there's absolutely no point whatsoever contacting Royal Mail before contacting Pigsback, because the first thing Royal Mail want to know is where and when the item was posted, and only PB can tell you that.
Mind you, even when you DO know when and where something was posted, all you'll get from Royal Mail is a standard "we deliver lots of letters successfully, yours is one we failed on, tough. Next time get a certificate of posting."
Now maybe PB DO get a certificate of posting every time they post something. I occasionally get one for important things (they're free) which aren't quite important enough to be worth registering, but now they've closed all the post offices near work and two near home, it's quite tricky to get to one. I can't honestly believe that a certificate of posting would make a jot of difference to the response from Royal Mail. Fine, you can prove something was posted, but it's still lost, and they have no more idea where it was lost if you can 'prove' where it was posted than if you just say "Aunty Maureen posted it at 3 pm on this date in that letterbox, and it said the last post was 5 pm".
This is turning into a Royal Mail rant, which is very much OT: but then I hope can be forgiven because on Friday the postman put a CARD through our letterbox at work to tell us we needed to pay extra postage on a letter, and if he'd rung the doorbell I'd have given him the postage there and then! "You can come and collect it," they say, "from our sorting office, but it's only open from 7.30 am until 11.30 am. Or you can stick £1.23 worth of stamps on and send this card back to us and we'll re-deliver it." So you'd better pray this letter wasn't anything urgent, because getting to the sorting office during those hours is a nightmare, and who knows how long it will take for the card to get back to the sorting office and them find your letter and re-deliver it!
Rant over. I love PB. Got my stress piggies (which I paid for with real points) the other day, on the 15th day, just as I was beginning to wonder if they were ever going to come. And very cute they are too!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
