I've been selling on Ebay and Amazon for some time now and have 'made' thousands - just a shame that its not as much as I paid for everything originally, I wish I had been more frugal and not spent the money in the first place.0

ive made about £100 on ebay in the last few months buying stuff and then reselling, it isnt a huge amount but its quite good fun if you have a few hours of spare time and there is nothing on tv.0

Don't worry MrsT it's more the opportunistic sale than anything else. I have also been keeping any receipts, postal records, packaging details and a low profile. Not to mention a lot of the sales have been my own unused junk that has built up over time.Remember anything you buy to sell you need to declare for tax purposes - ebay can and will report to the tax people if they think a private sellers account is being used to sell as a business... and you don't want a fine for failing to declare

It still amazes me how much unused junk I manage to keep in such a small place!!
The money will come in really handy but the decluttering will be just as rewarding me thinks

After fees and postage I have taken about £100 on ebay and £500-£600 on Amazon.
Admitedly I have been cheating as well as selling my own crap I have been buying stuff cheap to sell, but have been making clear profits
I hope you have been telling the tax man then.
If you don't then someone elese will....its undeclared earnings, especially the 'buy to sell' stuff.
The rest of us pay tax on our earnings remember.0 -
£7.51 so far!
I Suppose its a start.:D0 -
I prefer Amazon, no upfront fees, the stuff stays on sale as long as you want it to, easy to adjust the price if someone undercuts you. The fees seem a bit steep, but the postage price they set can be generous. I find Ebay a bit difficult in the current climate.Debt at 1/1/11 £7,049.75, now £6,682.12 at 9/3/110

Opportunistic or not - you need to set up a seperate account for the buy to sell stuff and declare it
If they find out you haven't then they could end up taxing you on EVERYTHING you have sold on there... the tax people do NOT have a sense of humour! DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
