Is your name a play on words, should it not be chip (on your shoulder).I hope you have been telling the tax man then.
If you don't then someone elese will....its undeclared earnings, especially the 'buy to sell' stuff.
The rest of us pay tax on our earnings remember.
You never have anything nice to say and like to always put people down. I pay my taxes just like everyone else, I have never claimed any benefits and even try not to use the health or emergency services unless its an emergency. Giving blood as often as I can, do long distance walks for charity, volunteer to help people in my own time regularly and stand up for those who get put down by others.
I have a clean conscience and if I should happen to earn an extra £100 profit after 'stock costs' for selling some hard to locate items and my own hoarded rubbish so be it. By the time I factor in 'office' space, internet costs, electric, phone bills, travel costs, packing materials I am pretty sure I maybe owe the tax man about £4 this month. I will try and not drag the country down in my own selfish desire to become the next internet mogul.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Not at all.
If its personal things then there is no issue.
You however state the you 'buy low and sell on', which is a business. If you are not paying tax on that part you are a tax evader.
Just pointing out that if you are making a profit (changed your tune once tax man was mentioned), you should pay it on all income the same as everyone else.0 -

I'm confused now... if I sell something that is my own (ie. bought and used, unwanted presents, clothes bought to wear and not wanted once tried etc) do I need to declare that to the taxman or is only items I have bought with the intention of selling straight back again?!
Just want to clarify before I begin selling tomorrow!Total debt at LBM... £16,815.02 :eek:0 -
You do not need to pay tax, or contact the tax people, if you are just selling your old things. Where you buy things then sell them on, that is running a business, and that is when you need to register as self employed, pay tax on your earnings, etc etc.Debt at highest: £8k. If you are concerned about your tax status, the HMRC manual on badges of trade is helpful, it discusses what and what does not consitute a trade:
