Forgot to mention that one should always check exit fees also, even on variable rate deals, when making the decision to switch.

I'm on this scheme and will first of check with them to see if I have an exit fee.I will try the likes of Uswitch etc tomorow.I think I will need to work out my annual consumptions first.
I contacted Scottish Power about 6 weeks ago and spoke to someone about my bill. She did seem quite sheepish when I asked about what happens next year.Im sure it will be worth leaving early if there is not an exit fee. Will look tomorow.

Yes I was looking at that yesterday after I found the rates and ran some calculations.

I spoke to SP yesterday to inquire about exit fees and was told there wasn't any for me. The rep mentioned that the Platinum offering might get changed to include 'Full Heating System' rather than just 'Boiler and Controls'. Using their figures I ran some calcs and worked out that OVO and BG Homecare 200 works out cheaper, but those prices are only guaranteed for a year unlike the Platinum offering from SP - Damm, I can't decide.

After long consideration and no exit fee with SP I have signed up for a dual fuel 1 year fix with Ovo.This works out around £80 a year cheaper than staying with SP.Coincidently it would have been about £230 a year dearer to stay with SP and sign up to their new Patinum 2012 fixed plan.
