There have been some great MoneySaving tips nominated this month and especially some lovely threads where various people have been helping each other out. Unfortunately there can only be one winner though and this month it's Wirehair for the Morphy Richards thread.

Pah! Pah and Pah again..

It's a real shame jules didn't get it as so many people nominated her..and her posts involve no spend at all, with great rewards which his surely the most money saving that money saving can be?

Can I ask how you decide this £50 p.o.m?
..i mean...the one with a link to cheap fresh flowers , is fair enough, but real moneysavers don't bother, or buy them cheaper from their local market!?

A very odd decision. I am a great admirer of Martin, but this makes no sense to me at all. It certainly flies in the face of the popular vote - sorry, swell of nominations.

Extremely disappointed.

I intend, of course, no disrespect to Wirehair, whose post was an exceptional one. So my full congratulations to him/her!! Well done!!

Yes, please could you fill me in on how the post of the month is decided. It might be because I'm a newbie, and being stupid, but normally when there is a vote about something, the person with the most votes wins! Is this not the case? It's a shame when so many people have appreciated and benefitted from Jules-2005, that she has not been rewarded for her daily efforts.

Regrettably, sexymouse, the POTM is not a vote. People make nominations, and Martin decides on the winner. We may disagree with his selection, but we must respect it.

I completely take the point MSE Andrea makes, and note that "the final decision is based on several points".

But it does seem a shame that these "points" are not widely known, or even listed somewhere on the site.

Secondly, it also seems that these "points" are variable from month to month!

That said, I do wish to make it clear that the disappointment I have been expressing should under no circumstances be thought of as sour grapes. If any discussion here can make the MSE site better still, then great!

In the meantime, I should like to thank Martin for making available such a generous prize in the first place.
