  • Just frozen seven meals worth of rich goulash made last night in the slow cooker. It will be terrific over the next few weeks with herby dumplings. This afternoon I will make spiced red cabbage in the SC which should look quite festive and should compliment any cold meat we have left after the holiday and apparently freezes really well. All freezer space totally taken up now and I will have to have a determined effort or NY Resolution, to eat my way through it before starting again!

In my Sc today I have got a Sauce/Stew which I want to put with pasta.

ooh dont have a recipe as such but this is what i did -

    ingredients :-

    Tin of corned beef
potatoes ( i used up rest of new potatoes)
    Onion
    Mushrooms
Frozen veggies (chucked in near end )
    Gravy
    Tomato Ketchup/Tomato Puree
    Salt/Pepper

I first chopped the potatoes (chopped into quarters), and then par boiled them, I chopped up the onion, and fried it in 1% cooking spray oil.
Then cut up the corned beef into cubes and sliced the mushrooms

Once onions have finished browning off then throw the potatoes, mushrooms & onions & corned beef cubes in the slow cooker. Then I seasoned

I then made up the gravy, once all whisked then put a dollop of ketchup in and also a dollop of tomato puree in the gravy. Mix together ( i normally just use a spoon to stir round)..

Pour over the spuds/corned beef etc, and leave to cook . Around the latter stages i threw in the frozen veggies, i think it took about an hour & half last night .. maybe a little less?? I forgot about it last night so probs worth checking up after its been in an hour..the veggies dont take that long to cook

    Hope you enjoy ...

Try some herbs, oregano would go nice and give it a bit of a pizza taste and coarse ground black pepper would also help.

Even stirring in some tomato puree or ketchup should take it away.

I added some sugar, ketchup and black pepper,oh and some garlic and it tasted much better! Another 4 portions in the freezer for after Christmas!

Today i`m prepping some bits and bobs ready to go in the sc overnight.

I`ll be adding some onions and a brisket joint together with spices etc to make this Half way down the page is the recipe for beef and chorizo stew, i`ve made it before and its lovely.

The only real difference is that i will be using a joint of brisket and shredding it into the mixture once its cooked enough - the brisket was a lot cheaper than the braising steak this week at the supermarket :D

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
