Whole chicken with a whole head of garlic shoved in its cavity (approx 20 bulbs?), with seasalt, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, allspice, and a large glass of white wine.

My cooker's having a holiday today (veggie tomato soup yesterday), but I have an urge to try something a bit different. It's Christmas Cake making time this weekend for me, and I really don't want to have the gas cooker on for 5-6 hrs like the past couple of years. My cunning plan is to cook the cake in the SC. Has anyone else tried this? Are there any dos or don'ts? I await your advice! ;)

I haven't done yet, but will be making chicken, and chickpea, curry in my large one, using yesterdays lefrovers, plus pataks paste, tinned tomatoes, co!!!! milk, onion, ginger, and garlic.

My small one will be used for chicken stock for soup later.

The chicken stock was lovely so am making some Leek and Potato soup. It will be slightly unusual, as haven't got double cream, although have coconut cream so will be using that. I also chucked in a peeled broccolli stalk, and a little rainbow carrot I found lurking in my fridge.

The main ingredients are HM chicken stock, 2 leeks, 4 potatoes, coconut cream, garlic, seasalt, only if needed, chilli flakes, and black pepper. I just chucked the little extra spare veg as an afterthought.

    Looks nice anyway! :D
  • I am doing sweet chilli sausages in the SC today. I usually bake them but I thought I would have a go at doing them in the SC. Does any one think this might not work.

Brown the sausages and put in SC. Then mix together 4 tblsp tomato ketchup, 2 tblsp honey,2 tsp chilli powder, garlic, 1 tblsp water and pour over the sausages.

Thought I might double the sauce quantity and put some carrot sticks in with it and serve with a cheesy mash and sweetcorn.

Anyone think that won't work or any tweeks I should do?

Thanks for this! i'm doing it today, sauce tastes yummy, adjusted it to what i had in, loking forward to it! gonna have normal mash though.

Rice pudding yesterday, an extra large one and every scrap has gone!

That's encouraging as it was a disaster when I made it in my old SC. I think it helped that I stirred it part way through.
