I've done a wee bit more searching and come up with this, havn't tried it but the original poster says it did the job for him.

I am the OP Frugal, and the link you gave, started with encouragement, ie sidebar too wide, but it didn't give a link to the add-on.

re that link I gave you, I think you have to go into profiles and add the code that's in the box somewhere, not sure, somebody maybe knows about profiles, did you click the userChrome.css?

Yes, mine too in the bookmarks bar, but it is the sidebar where I want it to work.

The userChrome.css to do this should be in your profiles directory\chrome
all it does in this form is allow you to resize the sidebar to minimum of 0 pixels
it is as below - Nope can't do this cos it contains a link and I am still a newbie so cant type it in so ....
the Relevant line is below there is a sample in the "Program Files"\mozill...../userChromeexample.css enter this line after the namespace line and save as stated above.

I've managed to find my way into chrome, where does this go,

What a day frugalmacdugal, all I ever wanted was to :-

* reduce the width of the Bookmarks Sidebar so that only Favicons showed.

* be able to go back & forth to forums without having to enter log-in details.

well I'm working away with this sidebar thing now, the width never really bothered me, cos I normally shut it when finished, but now I'd be interested in getting it fathomed out.

That link I gave you, not sure how profiles/chrome works, so maybe debitcardmayhem will come back and advise.

I don't have a problem with jumping about.
