Dusty, I had a quick scan through the original thread - only me, you and Penelope Penguin still posting regularly, and I know both PP and I ducked out at various times so I guess that makes you Queen of Flying. Nice to spot that Toots had been working on my thanks count some time last year :A
Busy stripping wall paper for plastering etc so very little done other than cleaning behind myself.
I have put the tin of veg seed somewhere safe and now I cannot find it. Can't order new stuff till I now what I need. Not in greenhouse, potting shed, garage, pantry, gas cupboard or any of the (very few) downstairs cupboards. I removed it from the DR late September but where to remains a mystery.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Lil-me - no I didn't give the dog a bone - she'd only take it to my bed and I'd sleep on it! Hope you feel better soon xx
Serena - my beef stock: I asked the butcher for a marrow bone and he came out with the knuckle end of a large bone. I got him to cut it in half long ways. I first put the pieces on a baking tray and browned them off in the oven for fifteen minutes or so, put them in a saucepan, covered with water, added some celery, carrot, onion and herbs, brought to the boil and let it simmer all afternoon. Then strained and allowed to cool so the fat rose to the surface and could be skimmed off. Lovely!
Re the cubed potatoes: Peel, chop into smallish cube like shapes (about 1/2 an inch big). Parboil then put in a casserole dish, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, stir a bit then pop in the oven for half an hour or so. They come out quite nicely golden and are brilliant if you save some and fry up for breakfast the next morningI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

The Teenage Girls are now doing stuff in the kitchen, so DH and I have retreated with the sloe gin. See you in the morning.

Massive hugs for all who want or need them xx:beer: Officially Debt Free Nov 2012 :beer:0 -
PP - The half term challenge was a great thread. It was very inspiring about just what could get done in a week if you really put your mind to it. Reading back over it and the first thread reminded me of just how hard I worked to get the old house into shape. I still have a lot to do here, mainly because of the lack of storage, but at least I know it is acheivable again.
Have a lovely evening. Must get off my bum and make a cup of tea, and refill the DW.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Pheasant was fantastic - even if I do say so myself. The beef stock turned something ordinary into something restaurant quality!
Bridget Jones is on terrestrial ITV3 right now. That's me tucked up for the night with a box of tissue!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

I'm still in awe of the day you had it all done! Where is that post? See PenPen you're not an outsider you're an original along with me being the newly crowned Queen:rotfl: What a joke I still have a massive list years on:rolleyes::rolleyes::o Was that back in the days when you was a mere poster like us or did you have the magic powers back then?

Dusty was in Cape Cod instead of flying, shocking. My house was newly clean and just sold. Happy daysDustykitten wrote: »Hex - thanks for that link - I remembered missing the challenge before I took a look. Happy Days. We had a computer where we were and I was pming TNG encouragement from Cape Cod. It seems a long time since Shell and Lynz were flyladies.
That's provided me with a bit of distraction anywayI forgot about the washing in the machine which I'd better go and retrieve.
I've eaten supper, and realised I need to do a vague mealplan for next week, as I have potatoes, parsnips and peppers in the fridge that all need to be used soon. Some kind of soup is on the agenda for the parsnips, I stuff one of the peppers, but I'm not sure what to do with the other three (I think they're all OK, so might make lots of filling, freeze it, and use it up as the peppers need eating). Potatoes will have to be eaten slowly over the next couple of weeks instead of bread or pasta. I bought them all when I was expecting lots of people for the weekend, and of course haven't had anyone to stay since! Any suggestions (diet-friendly!) welcomed.
I also managed to finish the paper that's due for publication this month, so it might just squeak in ahead of the deadline. I've emailed it to a colleague asking him if he can update the record in the database and get it submitted for review, as I'm not sure what time I'll be up and running on Monday (assuming the new hard drive both arrives and works!)
Step count continues to be atrocious, but hopefully that will change next week. SIL thinks I've lost weight (although I think it's probably that I'm just less bloated and saggy now I'm off sugar and booze and mostly eating broccoli...).
Better get the laundry sorted, and then I might indulge myself with a long soak in a hot bath... and try not to think about wine and chocolate
ETA... must find my list sometime... I left it so far back I'm not sure I can remember where it is!0 -
