  • I was thinking of getting Egg cleared first as it's a higher APR.. but considering the short timescale it's probably going to be better for my motivation to pay off barclaycard in one go :)

  • Hi IA. Just wanted to wish you well with your debt freeness. :D
much work to be done - new sig coming soon...

  • Afternoon all! In such a bad mood today but for no real reason. Work this morning was fine although had the wonderous fun that is filling in a DLA form for a client who was bipolar. Those forms are always a nightmare and take a good couple of hours. Joy! Roads are a nightmare too and possibly more dangerous with the thawing sludge than with the ice as noone takes care unlike when it's icy. Cue lots of ranting at eejit drivers!

Have decided that when my tax credits goes in on friday I'm going to pay off my Barclaycard. I'm going to keep it open though just in case as it's a lower rate APR now that my Egg card has gone up to 21.9 instead of 18.9.

Other than that nothing to report, got to drive into Wolverhampton in a bit to pay deposit for our rehearsal room in thurs. fun fun fun.

  • Also have been considering making some changes to my bills. Firstly thinking of changing phone internet etc packages as currently they're not letting me change it into my name (Still in ex-oh's) and I haven't yet gotten round to sorting it out. Thinking of going for something that includes tv. I have freeview already but maybe getting sky or virgin media? Will have to look into it.
Also the lottery's going for definite. It's a waste of money.

  • Morning! Thought I'd use a quiet morning at work to update. I'm doing an outreach today and only had one client so far and doubtful to have anymore. It's been snowing all morning but made it in. However there's approx 3 inches of snow on the ground and its still snowing. Getting concerned about actually being able to get home but I don't leave til 12. Should be interesting..

Nothing exciting to report money wise.. I cancelled my lottery DD as you know, and am currently still mulling over internet/phone packages etc. Cheapest seems to be not much less than I'm paying now if you include line rental. Although I have been toying with the idea of going with sky for everything and getting tv too. Mainly because I'm sick of rubbish music channels and only having cbeebies!! lol
Did a food shop yesterday which was a good £50 out of my budget, and then a quick trip to a guitar shop for essentials for my audition came to £47  I should be banned from going near that damn shop... it's within my 'misc' budget though so it's all good.... I don't drink on nights out anymore as I drive to save money, so will still come under budget for my personal spends so long as I'm a good girl lol :D

Still on target to get barclaycard paid off on friday too :D Happy days!

Hope everyone's well and not cursing the snow like I am... lol

Morning Sar, bloomin' benefits stuff is a nightmare! DD is expecting in April, she was self-employed for the end of the 2008/9 Tax Year and then into this Tax Year until the Studio dumped her cos she was body-piercing and they said that it wasn't safe cos of the Hepatitus risk etc! Then she was on JSA for about 3 weeks until she got a job (PAYE) at a Nursery ( great for free childcare next year!)
Trying to sort out what she qualifies for re Maternity is sooooooooo confusing! CAB appt coming up on Thurs to try and unravel it.
I've taken over trying to sort her money worries as CAB and CCCS are finding it difficult to sort out a Plan cos of the uncertainty of her position. Sheeesh! I'm telling her Creditors to shut up and wait....she's got nothing!
Anyhoo, hope you and the girls are good...I'm going to point her in the direction of this Diary and show her that it can be done!:D
    :D:D stay wonky :D:D

If she was self employed then it would be maternity allowance she'd need to claim as she wouldn't be entitled to any statutory maternity pay as she wasn't employed in the right period. to qualify for MA she needs to have been self employed for at least 26 in the 66 weeks before the week in which she's due and earned at least £30 for any 13 weeks in that period.

So need to know, how long was she self employed (exact dates), what day is she due, and how much did she earn roughly?
If you find those out I can tell you if she'd be entitled to maternity allowance. She should also be looking at the sure start maternity grant, health in pregnancy grant, and claim child tax credit and child benefit when the baby's born.
