As you can see at the moment I have a fair amount of surplus income because of my reduced rent/council tax. I get around about £26 housing benefit and £1 something council tax benefit. Because I've recently come off income support and full housing benefit/council tax benefit the run ons etc have come to the amounts I'm paying now until april. From April my rent and council tax is going to be roughly £203 rent and roughly £78 council tax.
Another issue I have is that my work contract at the moment only runs until April and there's no expectation that there'll be any more funding to carry on the hours I'm doing. It's awkward to explain but because Citizens Advice is a charity we are funded by outside sources for some things in funding contracts which have to be renewed etc. My contract is a one off 6 month contract ending in April with no renewal. So unless funding comes up from elsewhere the contract will end. Full stop. So, unless it looks like something will be coming up (highly unlikely), at the end of feb/march I'm going to be starting to look for another job, hopefully at another bureau. So at the moment, although it looks good on paper, it's very temporary, hence my want to get my debt sorted ASAP. It is also possible that once my divorce has gone through I could be landed with a hefty solicitors bill as I was on legal aid before when I was on income support and I'm not sure a new legal aid calculation has been done by the solicitor. I've not heard anything so could go either way at the moment!
So.. essentially I have 3 months. 3 months in which to get 1474.70 worth of debt paid off. Fairly plausible really. I have car tax due in february I think... and anyone who knows me will know that as soon as I start doing this there's usually a million and one things which crop up and get in the way... so remain pessimistic. But on paper it should be doable before my contract ends.... in theory..
Have yet to do a budget seeing as we're nearly half way through the month. Going to go for a bath then will be back with a planTotal 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

All looking really good, but can understand your worries about the job etc. Fingers crossed they either get more funding, or you find something more permanent.
Try not to be too pessimistic, look how far you have come from the young Mum with a shopping budget of 12p and a life of sitting at home dreaming of getting off benefits. Even a few backwards steps aren't going to stop you. If 'optimistic' feels like tempting fate, go with 'realistic' - 'It might all go to sh*t, but I will deal with it'."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
