Thats true that its for packaging aswell forgot about that, not that the jiffy bag would be £2 worth, but i also sold another item which was exactly the same postage and they didnt complain and left me positive feedback.Due to budget cuts the light at the end of the tunnel will be switched off.

hi guys just a query, i sold a fragrance on ebay and the person said they recieved today and said: (hi, i recieved item today and you over charge me for postage.i will very happy to give you great feedback after you refund me £2 of postage)
I have never had this before and wondering what i do as i thought people add a bit extra for postage to make sure their item goes for a bit more. On my part i just thought it was cost around what i had put.
She knew the price of postage when she was bidding on it!
Any help appreciated
I usually tell my buyers that the P&P cost I charge covers the postage and the cost of the packaging and the Final fee/Paypal fee.0 -
Sorry, made me laugh ... shouldn't really but couldn't help myself
. Have you got one of those sellotape dispensers with a cutting edge ... not a panacea but they can cut down a little on the angst. (Rushes off to stock up on sellotape dispensers to list on ebay ...
)
I do, but it's a bit like a yoga pose when i hold the dispenser between my toes and hold the package in one hand and try to tear off a piece of tape on the so-called serrated edge and it all crumples an sticks to itself with the other!
Perhaps I need an extra hand - now there's a money making idea.........0 -

Don't think you are actually allowed to specifically cover fees with postage (although many do to some extent). Be careful doing this as someone could complain and get your account suspended. As to the request for £2 it would probably be best to just settle it (which in all honesty means you are only out the packaging) but explain in a polite mail that you are doing it as an act of good faith this time but that P&P is meant to cover postage, packaging and supplies etc. Hopefully, they won't neg you anyway (it does happen, some people love to play games) but you will have a clear conscience regardless and hopefully a happy customer.

Please don't put that you are covering final value fees and paypal fees with your postage on your listings ... it will get you in serious trouble and may lose you the ability to have an ebay account. These fees are one of your costs of doing business and are to be absorbed by you before you consider if you have made a margin or not."I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. sorry about the postage query, if you refund £2 does that then just cover postage actually paid? or a bit extra for some packaging, i usuall weigh all my items ups, then add 20 odd pence (i usually do this to allow the one off paypal fee of 20p and a few pence towards the packaging) i don't think that is extortionate, and i think reasonable. i personally would not email anyone about postage, as the listing will quite clearly state this. it is very wrong of her to say she will leave negative comments if she does not get a refund, and if this actually happened i am sure you would have a case for ebay. i think put it down to lesson learned and if you have noit left feedback for her already, this could be mentioned by yourself? you do always get chance to comment on feedback as well if she does leave anything negative.Thanks to all who post comps :T0

No but there is a thread I seem to have seen somewhere on MSE ... Don't know if there is a better way to link within MSE but try this.
