  • great advice eyesparky.....as my step brother is a professional photographer maybe I can commission him to take my pics lol, seriously though if I get into ebay properly a dummy could be a useful purchase yes! Are there any photobucket type sites that are free or cheaper than posting x many pics straight via ebay, am thinking if I do bundles I will need to post lots of pics

auctivia (free) - you list your item with them and you can put lots of pics on that way too (you only get charged for 1 by ebay)

hey guys i have been following your challenge since the begining.

don't think i have the dedication to carry out the £10k challenge but enjoy making money where i can.

i have been listing some items on ebay thanks reading all your stories and i have stumbled across a little earner tonight. invested £30 in items which seem to be selling for around £60 on ebay. i have listed the items on a one day auction so if it works out well i can buy more stock. woo hoo - thanks everyone!!

I thought Auctivia were charging nowadays ... once subscription paid use as many pictures as you want? I have to relearn everything from scratch about all this again .

  • eyesparky - I too am selling things from around the house, or as they are now 'all over the house', I am such a hoarder I could be here a long long time as I am also accepting freebies from other family members too busy/lazy to sell their own stuff, fiances eyes rolling frequently but when my 10k materialises he will reap the benefits too!!!! lol Actually he is coming around to the idea now, has even raided his wardrobe for me and given me a black bag of mostly designer stuff....and my 4 year old donated 8 books, out of about 200!!!!

I have just updated my signature - £0 to £1.99 woo hoo! :D

I have been looking ALL NIGHT since I got home from work into seasonal stuff (valentines) but then as soon as I start thinking, how am I going to sell this other than ebay and then realise i'll have to try and sell them face to face to people to make money (at uni, at work etc) and then have a big freak out, aaahhh noooo too scary! I've done it so many times with so many different things, that, after a while its easy for confidence to be lost very quickly. I dont want to do what i've done so many times in the past (start on a new venture, tell everyone I know about it only to lose confidence and quietly walk away only to do it all over again in a few months!) so i'm trying to think about consequences - there's no point me buying all this stuff and never selling it and losing money. Tut.

if its any help, I'm exactly the same.. I have some stock left from (get ready) 2004/2005 of some costume jewellery, some candles and gift sets (still all BN and sealed and still smell great) and some clothes. all were bought to sell on back then.. I started great and made a profit.. but then I realised that the person who was REALLY profiting was Ebay and Paypal (they were separate companies back then). Their fees are extortionate and still havent figured out what they're like now... (procrastinating a bit but its gotta get done).

So I stopped online sales with the full intention of selling face to face - but bottled out!

"can't get to boot sales that early"
"there are no craft fairs near me"

etc etc - I still havent done it and now 4 years a lot of the stuff got gifted away in various xmases birthdays and so on and now just a small bit of it is left! and guess what - I'm probably gonna end up ebaying them now!!! :D

So I guess what i'm trying to say is : Don't worry, you're not the only one!! :D

Well i've started a blog so that I can keep myself in line and keep note of how much i've made! Eek!! Might try some affiliate marketing too, don't know if i'll have much success though. Its linked through my profile, check it out if you want, not too good though but then I am quite a technophobe!

    Hiya nikki,

I just wanted to say a big well done for starting your blog! I've been meaning to do something similar in that I wanted to start a Journal to keep myself on track.. But I haven't yet - just another thing on my to-do list *sigh*. Maybe I'll get inspired and do a blog like you!

Anyway I had read on these forums before, that if you blog you can possibly get some more revenue through Ads and so on.. I dont really know any of the what, how, when or where about this, but perhaps that's something you can incorporate into yours.

P.S. good luck with your exam!

Only a small amount to update from Ebay sales £14, 3 unsold. Saved again on the Pizza takeaway £12, I'm going to add this weekly saving at the end of the month(£48)because it is from my labour and therefore tis me who saved and slaved in the kitchen:D
  • looks like you can get a 30 day free trial on auctiva and then pay $2.95 for 15 listings a month or a rising scale from thereon in....maybe worth it for selling en mass, where one or 2 phots wont do!
