Love the work cakeordeath ... particularly drawn to Taurus (would be ideal for a friend of mine even though it is not their sign ;)). One small observation but would it be possible to have a section where method of purchase and perhaps price indications could be given so that people could more easily buy your work? Also, do you do limited prints of your work as you could also set up web based sales for these? There has to be some level of commercial viability with the signs of the zodiac series for starters. Truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing :).
I agree about the zodiac series - was just going to suggest the same thing about limited edition prints, a really unique and amazing present for someone. Do you have an ebay shop? Or just generally list on ebay? There's lots of original art on there - I even purchased a piece myself a couple of years ago

Does anyone have any advice on how to move on up from listing stuff on Ebay for 99p?
I've been listing stuff from around the house - or anything really that anyone was going to thow out, at 99p - and guess what? Most of it sold for around 99p!
Now I want to start making some more "serious" money, I've tried BIN listing - hopeless.
Trouble is if you've paid £4 or £5 for something you really can't list it at 99p - I'd be into negative figures pretty quickly if things actually sold for that and the BIN listing costs - well, list a thing a few times and you may as well have given it away!
    Any suggestions?

OH has donated a couple of old mobiles to the cause. I was originally asking for them for Tesco points, but they are in mint condition and boxed with nothing missing, and are still selling well on ebay, so they will be listed tomorrow.

Picked up a mystery shop for Wednesday, which I wasn't going to bother with, because of the mileage involved, but I made them an offer to cover the mileage as they seemed keen, and they've accepted, every little bit helps!!!

All more important now since I've just had my hours cut at work by 1 day per week :(

    Right second try:

Marketing and development is my area - and I can think of ideas for other but not myself! hopefully some of these will be worth doing!

Can you offer pet and person portraiture? If so:

Contact a few professional photographers.....offer them a small fee for any fully paid commision work, this work could include pets, weddings (offera special memory of the big day in the form of a piece of artwork - for this you can hopefully use one the professional photographers photos so you know the quality will be right!

Contact your local paper and offer a portrait as a competition prize. You need to decide if this is best as a pet or portrait or wedding...whichever offers the most future profitable business ideally. This will get you editorial coverage with the competition, if you can the names of all competition entrants (leads!) which you can then follow up with a special offer for entering the comp....eg 25% off if order before end of month, also you would want a follow up editorial with a photograph at the handover of the winning portrait...ideally quite quickly after so regular readers remeber the competition and you!

Go to craft fayres/wedding fayres/ have a stand in a shopping centre showing your work, with sale prices on! (you never know!) also offering a commision service....you would need leaflets, or at least business cards with your website for this but could be worth a go.

On your website advertise your services, with an order form, or at least email for more information. But also add a page showing how it works best...eg if you have a 6x4 photgraph the subject needs to fill at least an oval this size (do it visually as people understand that best) or I cannot fulfill your order....offer a consultation if they do not have a usitable picture...eg pet has died etc

Right I know I had other thoughts too but for now cannot remember them...I think fi you want to make money from you talent then there are many opportunities for you, intially it might take some promotional/minimal outlay work (as above) but you would soon recoup these costs and learn which are the best avenues for you and lso once you start with word of mouth you could have a fantastic business....as long as you can make enough money per art piece that is. Make sure you offer promotions throughout the year too....eg in the pet portrait offer in the run up to christmas, wedding/engagement portarit offer over valentines day etc etc

Now just need some ideas for me, wish I had a talent like yours!!

    Good luck!

I ahven't properly started the challenge yet.....got a few items out in a pile ready to start but never used ebay before so keep putting it off!

Nixinixi, whats your thing? maybe we could help you come up with idea?

Today I have raided the 1p and 2p whisky bottle - £3! With that and other bits and bobs I have in my gubby mits and saving book a grand total of £98.50 woohoo! I am in the middle of moving so there will be plenty of goodies for several car boots when the weather gets a bit batter.

hey all, skipped to the last page of thrread as been away sicne saturday, so loads to try and catch up on, good news is finally had first ebay sales coming through this weekend, one of my buy to sell items sold, was not an expensive item though, but hey, it's a sale, and a personal item sold. so 2 sales = £ 5.13 (but then i need to take fees and postage off) 2 more items are set to sell today at £5.29 (but again need to deduct fees and postage) so not a huge start but it is a start. as far as where i am definitely still at a negative as have put in £100, difficult to keep track of all fees etc, but when i get invoiced at end of the month i can update my siggy. now ot relist some usnold items, trying the BIN option as have more than 1 item to list. wish me luck :)

I hope you are finding ideas, sales, money or something from somewhere, i am still dipping my toes in here and three, until i find my niche market (may just do a bit of everything at this rate, lol)
Thanks to all who post comps :T

Managed to sell a pair of tracksuit bottoms for 99p, I am quickly turning into a 99p shop lol. I tried bidding on a mannequin which was in its final hour at £1 but someone was using a snipe programme which bid up every time I did so I gave up. Washed the clothes I found yesterday, after they dry I will photograph them and list them. Two pairs of white trousers I found both have marks on them which didn't come off in the wash so I may have to invest in some washing machine dye for them and dye them black.

Edit: does anyone know where I can get cheap washing machine dye from?
