I tried a couple local galleries but my subject matter isn't "the type of thing that sells well with our customers" their customers want flowers and landscapes, Yawn!! Trouble is that although I know my stuff is really good (even the gallery owners admitted that much), I don't know how to promote myself, I really lack the confidence to push myself forward especially face to face, I get so anxious. Anyone fancy being my agent?...my website link is in my profile
Love the work cakeordeath ... particularly drawn to Taurus (would be ideal for a friend of mine even though it is not their sign). One small observation but would it be possible to have a section where method of purchase and perhaps price indications could be given so that people could more easily buy your work? Also, do you do limited prints of your work as you could also set up web based sales for these? There has to be some level of commercial viability with the signs of the zodiac series for starters. Truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing

Cakeordeath- your artwork is absolutely amazing, especially the graphite ones. Looking at your animal pics, what about a sign in your local petshop noticeboard offering commission drawings of peoples pets ? Apologies if you already do this.0

Thanks LittleMissHappyMummyandPaige wrote: »cakeordeath - WOW! just had a look at your website, your stuff is absolutely amazing! There is a small art dealer/ gallery here that sells paintings and drawings like yours, I know this because I really wishI had the money to buy some, I spend way too long looking. How would you go about getting your work seen by them though? don't know the procedure! But you definately have good avenue there, very impressed!
MummyandPaige whereabouts are you? I'd like to know the name of the gallery, maybe if they've got a website or email I could contact them that way. Thanks for your kind words too.Your work is amazing. It's strange that the galleries you contacted have a limited range, I guess they've made themself comfortable within a certain market and don't want to experiment which is unfortunate. I've seen pretty unusual or inventive works near me in galleries for sale, mostly in the busy city than locally though. Maybe thats a sign of the thoroughfare they get within a large city, with more variety of people coming in from all sorts of places in or out of town and more impulse buyers or business people with bigger budget to experiment with. I would Google around your local area and nearest bigger cities and see what type of work they have on display. If you see they take in a bigger variety get in touch.
I guess they just don't want it taking up room on their gallery walls when they know they can shift the other stuff and keep their shop stock fresh and interesting. Manchester would probably be the closest big city to me. I'll see what I can find out online about their galleries, thanks for that!Love the work cakeordeath ... particularly drawn to Taurus (would be ideal for a friend of mine even though it is not their sign). I looked into limited prints a while back but couldn't really afford that the initial outlay for proofing etc, maybe some of the cash I make with this challenge could be invested.. mmmm ...there's a thought! Thanks!!!!
moneymabel I do the occassional pet portrait usually by word of mouth and via the local sanctuary who get a percentage of each sale, but unfortunately so many people come to me with photos of their animals taken from half a mile away and then can't understand why I can't do them a lovely close-up like those they've seen :rolleyes:Turn £100 into £10,000 in 2010 member # 247
