  • Thanks for starting this thread. My partner and I went to a Snowand Ski show in the NEC and entered a lot of competitions whilt we were there to win skiing holidays. A few months later we received a phone call from a company called Holiday House telling us we had won and we needed to go to a presentation and pay 49pp admin fees to claim the holiday. After doing some research n this company it turns out that they operate from the exact same address as the Shakesphere Classic Line Company - Suite 6, Building 11Nunhold Business centre Hatton. This thread helped me work out that it is all a con so thank you :-)

your free holiday will be with "The Sugar Reef Travel Club". Stay well clear of this company, you will be charged admin fees, baggage and tax. You will be offered a holiday flying from a airport miles from your home address, a date that is not suitable for you. You proberbly wont be able to go and will lose you money. On the other hand if you are "lucky enough to travel" whilst on holiday you will have to sit through long timeshare presentations. Dont sign up and regret it like i have.

    Dear Salty

I cant find my reply to you on here.

It would appear we have paid different amounts for the same product?????? have you contacted Trading standards, I have. I'm now receiving letters from Barclays in response to my complaint. Apparently we are not alone over 500 people are involved.
What have Barclays advised you to do and have you parted with any money yet. Still have no proof of a scam, maybe you have some evidence.

I dont think it helps to be on here writing things like this to trusting people who have been professionally conned. As you can see from this thread alone several people have bought the same product for different prices, the paperwork is not clear when you read it yourself and you rely on the reps to talk you through it, these people are professional at getting you to believe this is a good deal. If you have some constructive advice to help then please comment but dont call people idiots thank you. We feel humiliated enough by the con artists.

I'm unrepentant - I did apologise for using the words and I gave the particular poster at whom the remarks were addressed some very constructive advice:

GET OUT NOW while there's still a cooling off period. If they haven't lied to you about that.

You are an utter idiot. A total and utter !!!!. (hmmm edited out by MSE) Sorry, but there's no other words for it (well there are but I wouldn't use them in public)

GET OUT NOW while there's still a cooling off period. If they haven't lied to you about that.

we too are in the same boat, with barclays.

Tongue in cheek - keep the original loan - the monthly payments are nil. More seriously, you might be able to get out of the first loan on the grounds the paperwork was defective.

But that still leaves you with a probably enforceable contract to buy whatever it was you did buy - I'm still not clear on that, and it sounds like you are not either. You say it's 'not timeshare' - so you won't have the (somewhat meagre) protection of the timeshare sales regulations.

Sounds like you've been well and truly stitched up without any scissors to get out of it. And although you say 'I'm not that stupid', even paying £3000 plus (£250 odd a month) a year to get 'discounts' on holidays isn't exactly a sensible option. At a 10% discount say you'd have to spend over £30000 pa on holidays to benefit.

My best advice is don't sign the paperwork for the new loan, and take all your details and consult a solicitor. Don't say you can't afford one - clearly you can, if you can make a purchase like this - and you can't afford not to.

I'm really surprised that Barclays have gotten involved with a shady outfit like Shakespeare - a few years back they were flogging dodgy narrow boat 'time shares'.

Have you actually received/been creditted with any of the rental income? Does the yacht actually exist?

Hi, This company is a rip off we are of sound mind but were duped in to signing. We do not think that the yacht they are selling even exists. We are looking for people to come together to fight them. Individually we are stiffed these guys have far bigger guns than we can muster. Collectively perhaps we will be able to do a lot more.

If you are interested in getting in tough with these people please get in touch. I think it may be too late for people that have piad but perhaps we can stop it happening to others
  • We too attended a presentation (over 4hrs) at Warwick. We paid a £500 deposit for a fractional share of a yacht in Turkey. We now owe a balance of over £10,000 (we opted to sort our own finances out so fortunately haven't signed up to any finance). We have tried to cancel the agreement but keep getting told that it is non-cancellable. We are talking with our solicitors to try and resolve this. Has anyone managed to cancel their agreement successfully?
  • My wife and I signed up for this TODAY. They did not put heavy pressure on us, but we feel very uneasy having got home and looked them up online. They even quote Martin Lewis and moneysaver in their sales talk!
They have my credit card number, from which they will take a deposit of a few hundred pounds. We are then liable to give them the balance of £10k by early Sept.. We have not agreed to the loan from Barclays or anyone else.
I'm thinking I will cancel this - what do others think?
