Crib or moses basket?

With the boys we had a moses basket for downstairs and a cot upstairs.
With DD, our room isn't big enough for the cot so we have a crib up there (she is 21 weeks and still has plenty of room). And well, for downstairs, I had a choice between a hammock, a moses basket and a carrycotEnded up using the hammock for the simple reason that when my elephant footed boys ran about the moses basket shook whereas the hammock just rocked gently!
Out of it all I would now suggest a crib for upstairs/bedroom and get a pram with a carrycot and use that downstairs. A lot of teh carrycots now fit in moses basket stands if you don't want to use the pram chasis.
And you can pick them up on ebay really cheap (and then sell them for what you paid ha!). Cribs, moses baskets, carry cots for your pram/pushchair. I love eBay (as you may see from my siggy) :rotfl:0 -
I had a moses basket for DS but he grew out of it by the time he was 3months. I got a crib at a carboot and brought a new matress for it for this bumps due. Try local paper, carboots and freecycle sties. Good luck0

I've got a carrycot actually designed for sleeping in and there is no way that would do him til 6 mths which is the recommended time for babies to share a room with parents.
My daughter stayed in hers until she was nearly 8 months, that is for day time naps.
She moved out of my room by the second month, she was so noisy, she would make grunts an hour before each feed, I got no sleep at all!0 -
All carrycots are different sizes. I looked at a quinny carrycot and it is tiny compared to mine, dolly sized! And mine looks tiny compared to some of the M&P ones.
DD just outgrew hers a few days ago. There is still room to put her in it, but for outside once she has a snowsuit on, she takes up the full space. But I love it, it's red, can I keep it for her dollies?0 -
We had a MB when DD was little - used it till about 3 months as like her mum she's a restless sleeper and scoots round
That said - if I have another one day we'll have a MB again! I loved having her next to me downstairs and by the bed etc and it was easy to carry round the neighbours for a quick cuppa
We went stright to her cotbed from the MB - so she was in her own room at 3 months. Haven't looked back since and both she and we sleep much better in seperate rooms like this. My baby went into her cot at 8 weeks but really could have gone in earlier. I only paid £20 for her moses basket so it was worth it really. I did buy too many sheets though. Really 3 or 4 will do.50p/£24.00 Xmas 2010:rudolf:

Have you thought about a co-sleeper. Huge space saver plus all the benefits of baby being happy and cosy sleeping next to Mummy.
