injured by a road sign

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this but just wanted some opinions on this.
A couple of weeks ago while walking the dog I slipped and fell against a road sign. I hurt my shoulder. The road sign was already damaged looked like it had beed run in to by a car or something and part of it was hanging down and sticking out. this was the part that injured my shoulder.
I am still having pain in my shoulder it was badly bruised.
I also ripped my coat on the sign.
I have contacted the council but the sign is still in the same state and I am worried that this might happen to someone else.
Should I do anything else about this. Do the council not have obligation to make sure these signs are safe?

Do you want compensation? If so you need photos of sign/coat/injury.
To substantiate your claim you really need witness/medical evidence.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
watch where you walk, don't fall over, no problems, simples0

Would you have hurt yourself on the sign if you had not slipped?
If not then the state of the sign is of no consequence. Be more careful in future. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Everybody get back, this thread is gonna blow soon! RUN!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Can't believe the attitude of the people who have posted here. How can you avoid slipping in this weather (which yes, was like this 2 weeks ago)? Did the OP mention claiming compo? What if it had been your child and not the OP that was injured by this? Would you still be making ridiculous remarks then?
What bunch of muppets.
I'd get on to the council again. Did you ring them or email?0 -
Thanks, I emailed the council and had a reply to say it had been passed on. nothing has been done though.
I didnt say I wanted conpensation did I ????
I am just concerned that this could happen to someone else. Just wanted to know if the council have a duty to look after these signs.
The sign is very dangerous, part of it hanging down low and sharp edges sticking out.
I will be more carefull thanks just hope no one else gets hurt by it ie child oap etc.sonnyboy0 -

Cally- I'm sorry-I originally thought that this was going to be another ''oooh-compensation' thread, so I apologise for that.:o
I don't know who would be responsible for it, maybe the Road Authorities? I would certainly take pictures of it..and then maybe the local paper? They might get some butts kicked.:DRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

Its a bad bend sign the black and white sort. it seems to have been hit by a car or smething and is now hanging down with bits of loose metal sticking out.
I will contact the council again.sonnyboy0
