Advance payment - what if it goes down before you collect car?

We ordered a Citroen Gp c4 in November on Motability. It is semi automatic and diesel and the downpayment was £995.00. I have just checked the motability website and the downpayment is now down to £375:mad: I notice they do a price guarantee if the price goes up , but they do not mention it going down.
The car is still being built and should be delivered in the next 3 weeks or so.
Does anyone know where I stand with regards to the advance payment - We havent paid it yet - it is payable when the car is ready for collection.
Many Thanks:T

Im not sure in excact terms but think that it might be like many other things in life.
If you booked a hoilday for a £1000 and paid £100 deposit, the same holiday might be half price with no deposit the week after. Do you want a refund then and rebook? Doesnt that mean you lose a deposit and/or have a cancelation fee?
Same principle is applied in booking hotels too. It happens in all walks of life.
Best thing would be to phone the place where you ordered it tomorrow and ask them direct. They can obviously give you the correct answer, which is better than a forum of guesses0 -
This happened to us recently. We ordered a car with an advance payment of £500. Whilst we were waiting for it the price went down (I can't remember how much by but it was a few hundred or so cheaper).
We would have known nothing of this but the very kind helpful salesman from the dealership phoned us to draw our attention to this.
He apologised that he could not re-order the car at the lower price (I don't think the dealership would allow it or something) but he told us that we could save money by changing our order to the next model up as this had also come down in price and now had an advance payment of £300. So thanks to this kind man we saved £200 and got a better car!0 -
Thanks for that simgranny - just checked and the advance payment has went down by £655 !! The Top of the range one in now only £95 more. Will check with the dealer and see if there is anything they can do. Our car was a factory build one so been waiting for it since the beginnig of November, so not sure we caould wait for them to build another right enough but will check in case it is one they have available.
Thanks againNo Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

The fee is fixed at the time you book.
You are protected against a rise. The flip side is you are commited at that price even if it drops.
Sorry. Unless you get a very sympathetic salesman though he is likely to quote Motability T & Cs!0 -

Hi,
From what I understand having spoken to motability about this a while ago, once you order a car, you are 'locked out' on the motability computer so you cannot order another.
The only people who can release the 'lock out' are the dealer from whom you have ordered the car or Motability themselves. Hence you need a good reason to change your order and get the 'lock out' lifted - either by chatting nicely to the dealer and hoping they will permit you to cancel your order or Motability provided you have a good reason. Once the 'lock out' is lifted you are free to order another car.
As someone else has posted abolve, the Advance Payment you agree when ordering is what you pay. If it subsequenrtly goes either up or down it is irrelevant. If the dealer is nice they may permit you to cancel the original order and re-order at the new lower price but there is no obligation for them to do so.

I ordered a Qashqai 1.5 dci Ntec on 30th Dec.When i went in to place the order i was expecting a advance payment of £1099.Surprisingly the guy let me know the price was dropping to £499 on Jan 1st.He did all the paperwork and said he would place the order after Jan 1st so i could get it at the lower price.
I was very happy to let him do that of course
I would think that unless you can cancel the order you cant really do much else.0 -
I spoke to my dealer yesterday - they have had a lot of complaints from people in the same position. Quite a few of them have phoned Motability and had the advance payment reduced ( she has been contacted by motability to change forms). I will phone them tomorrow - she said I coudl cancel and reorder too if that is what I want to do. It does mean going back to the end of the queue though. I know it is swings and roundabouts and had I takeb delivery of the car already I know there is nothing that can be done - but given the car hasnt even left the factory yet I am more than a bit peeved as most people would be.

Spoke to Motability this morning - they have agreed to reduce the advance payment to that of the current quarter. There has been a lot of complaints so they are doing this to all customers. No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

Im so angry, got a galaxy on motability with advance payment of £4000 just checked today and its now £2100. I can accept a few hundred pounds up or down but £1900 its seems so unfair. We really struggled to pay the advance payment as it was alot.0
