BMW -terrible in the snow and Ice - saw one driver hold up 10/15 cars on each side of the road whilst he tried to turn his M5 super car into a side road. No traction but wouldn't give up.
What you want is an S60 volvo. With the winter setting on the auto gearbox then I haven't had any problems in the snow and ice. Yes the STC (stability traction control) goes on and off but the car had gotten up some pretty steep hills. i won't be swapping for anything else !0 -
My sister's subaru (sp?) has performed really well inthe snow, she normally had has some kind of accident every year involving fences/fields/lamposts  but this year so far she's done exceptionally well!
The guy in the house next to me has had no luck with his Mazda and the guy beside him has a Evo which is always seems to be getting stuck!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

worst driver i know is my next door neighbour who drives a mazda of some sort. wanted me to move the car which was in a lay on the road opposite. almost ended up going through the fence on the other side of the road not suprised after hearing the car revving from inside the house. She gave up after about 10 minutes of not getting very far.
As for the worst car i have tried was a mitubish FTO. well it did have a v6 engine in and was bad enough in the wet0 -
My Skoda Octavia was superb in the snow and ice, really well weighted at the front meaning I never had a panicked moment. Very sure footed even in deep snow.0

Handy hint used cat litter(solids removed) under the rear wheels get the thing moving after parking on ice
I'm with you there on the mr2! my husband wouldn't drive it because he coudnt keep control of it. I had a few exciting drives to work in i in the snow though.0 -

I live and work in Wales, my job takes me out in the middle of nowhere most times and my trusty front wheel drive turbo diesel automatic Renault Laguna has never had a problem in the snow.
Twice its embarrassed 2 separate 4x4's who failed to climb a hill on a icy country lane. The Renault did it with out the slightest bit of wheel spin...
Its amazing what a set of snow chains can do0 -
My sister has a Mercedes E class. It's not even great in the rain.0
