The worst car in the snow is any car running on low profile summer slicks especially runflats, which is why the BM's seem so bad.
My Benz should be just as bad but on its proper winter tyres will go anywhere.0 -
My C class isn't the best, but it has got me from A to B and back because I know its limitations and how to drive in the snow and ice.Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

they took thier time and filled the boot with bags of cement. well thats what i had to do in my capri, except i substituted the cement for my heaviest available mate hanging out the boot to get us moving from the very small incline outside his house, ended up had to do it in reverse aswell.
the worst peice of driving ive seen was a guy driving a BMW X6 m sport on the M8 at stepps junction, as the motorway was cued because of the 2 feet of snow on it he decided to use the hard shoulder (untouched fresh snow) he went on his side (possibly shat himself) and then indicated back on to the motorway, he looked a right !!!!!!....work permit granted!0 -

RWD cars of yesteryear had a small sectional width which meant more pressure was put down compared to todays 20" rims. Cars then where also much lighter compared to the 2 tonne saloons we have today. And the biggest difference is that tyre treads where much more tractor like compared to todays ultra-high performance "summer" tyres. If anything older tyres are more akin to the Mud and Snow tyres we have today. The man without a signature.0 -
I don't know much about anything, but I managed to get to and from Birmingham during a snow storm and get out of a snow covered McDonald's carpark more easily with my rear wheel drive than a wheel spinning front wheel drive VW. I do have that traction control thing that seemed to me working, so that did some good, maybe.0

I have a vw golf and it has been a star, not failed me once, but then I wouldn't just try to hoof it like some of the titheads you see. Seeing the 4x4 BMW getting stuck in the supermarket carpark on xmas eve was hilarious and something I won't forget in a hurry!!Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
30lb lost of 30lb by June 2012 :j:j:j (80lb overall goal)0 -
