AVG is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

Just get Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free, effective and won't bring your PC to it's knees.

If you don't want that look at Avast or Avira.

Thanks all for your help, seems to be running better ccleaner dealt with a lot especially in the registry. I seem to be needing to re login everywhere so hope I can remember all my passwords. Will see if the problem with explorer continually deciding not to respod has cleared up over the next few days:T

Hi Guys me again

Real problems with computer now there were new microsoft updates and when I switched off it won't restart. It seemed to be back to the old problem of Mcafee updates not being compatible with the new microsoft updates.The computer tries to auto repair and then suggests a restore point that doesn't always work so then I have to choose one myself, all this is taking about an hour to get in .The report says that a new driver or update would appear to be stopping the start up.
I did as already suggested and removed Mcafee and Mcafee virtual technician which I'd had to use a few weeks ago.
Downloaded Microsoft security system as suggested thought that must be compatible did scan switched off compter same again.Every time I have to use a restore point when I get back in there is no virus protection Tried Avast instead but even longer to get back in . I am doing this without virus cover at the moment
PLEASE help computer my lifeline for everything can't afford to be without it and I am having to leave it on all day

spoke to a friend that said the microsoft updates had maybe not been comleated properly and he thought the boot up driver had become corrupted. I went into microsoft and did their most recent update and restrated and it went straight away have been to scred to switch off again incase it takes another 90 mins
