Dell laptop with vista been running really slow and a McAfee full scan is now taking 10 hrs which seems excessive. An applicion on facebook said that I was needing to upgrade my adobe flash but it wouldn't work so I was checking out sites and came across supposedly free Regcure, did a full scan which came up with over 1000 problems which couldn't be repaired without registering. Is it worth paying the $10 or is there something else I can do to clean up my computer. Have been doing the disc cleanup and defrag on a regular basis but there is obviously more rubbish that is not being dealt with

Do NOT pay
It wont help at all (In fact, quite the opposite)
Download MALWAREBYTES (Click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
UPDATE and FULL scan
Post the log here after its deleted everything
Download HIJACK THIS (Click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
reboot
SCAN and post the log so we can see whats running:idea:0 -
don't think overheating, regcure reminded me as I just uninstalled that it had found 1552 problems please don't scare me as my computer is my lifeline!!
I will try the above and see what happens first although you might have to tell me how I post the log onto here
Also the microsoft performance check blames McAfee for the slow performance0 -

I'm sure it claimed all kinds of things. If it said it found Elvis alive in your DVD player then at least it would be obvious it was telling lies.
Are you familiar with the term "Snake Oil Salesman"? If so, keep that in mind every time you see an advert of that type. Those apps you download from adverts like that are more likely to be the source of computer problems than they are to be the solution. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Try downloading a copy of ccleaner and press "run cleaner" to clear up files and "scan for issues" to check the registry for problems0

Try and uninstall regcure off your pc asap....I've had a mare of a time removing it from several computers...be warned......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
