  • i've got 8 nights booked in Spain for March. It was my 'main' present to my OH for Christmas as a surprise for him.

I got the flights free through an offer on MSE last May. Just paid the taxes and fly from the airport 15 minutes drive from my house. Spent the Summer scouring the sites for a hotel and booked 8 nights half board in September at a 4 star near the beach for £105 each. All in, the holiday (without a transfer, but can get the coach) is £145 each. Just beer money needed!! i'm planning on using some of my February AQA money for that, or I might pop a few things on Ebay, although i've got the £35 to come from Quidco and I've still got the £25 Greasypalm cheque to bank, so that is £60 already without trying!

just heard something that has made me go aarrgghhhh........there is a planned office move, which I knew about but Cruella has apparently suggested that I move in with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw this on another site just now and thought it was appropriate to my relationship with Cruella

  • Hi O_M,

I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to get my bum in gear regarding my finances - I just passed my AQA test and first review, so hopefully I might graduate without an overdraft (five months and counting)! I hope you have a lovely holiday, you deserve a break - and good luck with Cruella (perhaps a bulk purchase of ear plugs might be a good investment if you have to share an office?).

Right, I must get back to revision! Take care x

wow, how a couple of hours can change things.

Had an email from my sister. I helped her to start claiming back bank charges and on the second letter, they have offered her £975 against a £1150 claim! That is a good result. She has just split with her husband and is going to take that to pay off two credit cards. She has '12 aims' of the year to get herself sorted and that knocks two of them off the list.

Phoned up payroll and got a surprise - my back pay is going to be paid at the end of this month, rather than the end of February!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!

They aren't allowed to say how much it is, but I am keeping everything crossed that I've done my sums right and it is about £1600!!

Then I will have the dilemma of either using it at the end of the month to pay off my debts (it will clear one card completely) or put it away for the automatic car I want at some point and wait and hope I get my bank charges back on the 22nd Feb.

    Fab.

I also recently found out that someone I know is fiddling the tax man - big time - and it has riled me. They haven't paid any tax for about 4 years and are very knowledgable about how to get payment without it being traced. When I told them about AQA, they said to me 'oh, don't bother declaring it'......gggrrr......

Dont they offer rewards for reporting this sort of thing these days?!?!? I really hate people like this - its because of these @rseholes that tax keeps going up!

sorry - i'm glad thats out my system now - people like that really wind me up!!!
