Thankyou Cassa....sometimes I feel it's all getting a bit obsessive and that I should lighten up a bit. And then sometimes I feel myself almost succumbing to something stupid and I have to rein myself in (I almost bought some bits from a Lakeland catalogue delivered yesterday, but didn't do the deed!!)
well, I was nearly very bad today.......
In the post (along with two dodgy loan company offers!) was a pre-made out agreement for an Aqua credit card. Apparently it is from the Halifax, but has a high APR (29.9%) and low maximum credit limit (1600), so not exactly a hot deal.
The number one reason they say that I should apply according to them??
"An attractive Mastercard".......
Now, I have to confess I sat for about 10 minutes telling myself that I did NOT need a pretty, attractive Mastercard even though the chances are I would be accepted.
The old me would have signed the agreement form by now in the vain hope somebody thought me credit worthy.
The new me (although very slowly!) eventually picked it up with all the other junk mail and put it in the recycling......
I felt like an addict being offered a quick 'fix'..........
I might have to get the form out of the bin and shred it........just in case...0 -
Yes you don't want someone else applying and getting the card in your name and getting a change of address done so that they can ruin your (improving) credit score!CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

I hadn't thought of that....
I was thinking just in case I weaken and fish it out of the bin!!!0 -
Hi Q-M, What is AQA it certainly seems to be earning you some extra money??!!!0

Hi chapmag - it is this company
http://www.issuebits.com
I'm being tempted again!! Got an email this morning from the organic meat farm company I used to use occasionally with the Christmas turkeys and hampers. I am soooo tempted to buy organic this year and stuff the expense. I have had turkeys from them twice and they have been nice, but I didn't last year and I think it was just as nice.
Oooohhh, why am I so weak!!!! I've even added up what the equivalent meat would cost from the supermarket in the hampers and it comes to about half.
I'm trying to justify it by telling myself that I've done so well and that I can afford it because of what I've paid off and AQA, yadda yadda yadda........
And of course, it is paid over 3 months and early orders have a 20% discount...........bargain..........
ok......maybe not..........but I am going to have to be strong to resist!!0 -
At home studying today (honest, I am!)
Was absolutely shattered last night and I know I am trying to do too much. I am working full time, fending off the dragon boss, studying for my Masters, doing AQA, trying to re-claim my bank charges (which I am now preparing for my set aside court hearing with citicards), trying to stay strong and become DF as quick as I can keeping the house clean, doing the shopping etc.........It's a lot......
I just could not, mentally, couldn't do any AQA yesterday. After spending about three hours on the consumer action group chat board and then talking privately to a moderator who has done me a witness statement for the hearing, my brain had turned to mush.
Photos arrived from the David Beckham competition. There are some really good ones. The kids my OH took will be over the moon.
One of them sent a note to say thankyou for giving him the chance to meet Beckham . It made my day to get the note, it was lovely just to be thanked0 -
Getting back to the turkeys, the one thing I struggle with when it comes to being a dfw is ethical shopping. As the whole idea to be debt free and therefore happy about life, I think my happiness would take a beating knowing the animal I'd be eating (and wasting half of it too no doubt) had lived a miserable existance.
It's a dilemna!
Findgers crossed you get your energy back soon O_M.
Good luck.0 -
Still tired but ploughing on . Done the reading and revision notes to hopefully cover one question. Going to spend the next week doing the same for two more.
I will really need a night out on 13 October!!! That is a horrid week, court on Monday for citicards, OH birthday on Tuesday (not horrid, but I can't think what to get him at the moment) and my exam on Friday - the 13th!!!
Getting my hair cut today. It is only the second hair cut this year and it will cost me £25. Cheap for here, although it is still only a cut and blow dry. I couldn't carry on cutting my fringe any longer!!
My hair looks a like a cross between Kate Bush and Sarah Brightman, but with a definite bit of 'scarecrow' thrown in!!!
Phoned the courts again yesterday about my two abbey claims. they are very busy and it doesn't look like my first claim will get a court date earlier than December and my second claim will more than likely be something like February!!
The good thing is, the daily interest will be growing, and will be over £100 extra on the second claim if it isn't paid to me until next Jan/Feb! I can live with that to be honest.
Waiting for the postie before I go to the supermarket. It would be good if the capital one cheque arrived today as I could bank it, but I don't think it will arrive until early next week.
Paid the bills online. Have kept back the Capital One statement to clear when I get this months AQA money and have kept back my RBS statement as this will have the £437 I get from capital one chucked at it.
Once that is done, my unsecured figure in my sig. will be looking a bit healthier!0 -
Good job it was payday yesterday. Expensive day.
It cost £27 to have my hair cut and she still only half dried it. At least that will do me until Christmas. Had to point it out to my OH who said 'oh,have you had it done?' and then said I looked like Linda Lusardi - 'well, the hair bit anyway'. Erm, thanks, not.
Shopping was £53. That is a big shop for me now, but should mean I don't have to get anything for 2 weeks other than maybe some fruit and veg next weekend.
OH's birthday on the 10th Oct. Was stuck knowing what to get him. Got him a bike two years ago he had 'really' wanted. Never ridden it once. Got him a mitre saw last year he drooled over for months, still in the box. He had said he wanted to pop to Girona overnight soon to stock up on cigarettes (I know, I should not encourage him, but i've given up tryig to get him to stop) and if I saw a cheap flight to grab it. So I've got him a flight and hotel overnight. flight for November, whch was £20 return all in (inc. taxes) and hotel was £30 (stayed there before - bargain hotel and very nice). I've put it all in an envelope with a map and a print out of the bus timetable from the airport. We only live 15 minutes away from Bournemouth airport, it is so easy just to jump on the plane!!
So that's his birthday sorted. At least it can't sit in the shed unused gathering dust!!
Last day of the month for AQA. Hoping to do £50 today, but I'll see how the day goes as that is a lot and i've got studying to do as well!0 -

What a fantastically inventive present - I hope he appreciates it this time!!!0
